Anyone knows what's the electronic device on the Right hand?

  Well on friday, i was at tekong doing normal Training and then i saw some soldiers wearing jungle hat.... on the right wrist, there was a small device like a palm top. does anyone know whats that? GPS?
  
  and also whats the differences between NVG generation 2 and generation 3? heard ADF is using Gen 3 and its a sensitive equipment.... anyone?

  3rd Gen NVGs are significantly more capable than 2nd gen ones. The differences in technology, I dont have it with me now. (Its at home) Whatever the case, America exports 3rd Gen NVGs only to a select few close allies.

  It should be a Compaq PDA on the wrist. What the PDA does - you can find out when you have a chance to use it.
  Most NVGs used these days are 3rd generation ones.

  I know this is off the topic but can somebody from the SAF with good knowledge enlighten me . As all of you know , Singapore is an urban jungle and in a scenario of a war , we'll be likely to fight on the streets . Does the SAF provide knee pads , Kevlar vests as a standard issue to the SAF personnel ? Watching Black Hawk Down makes me realise the importance of our troops having knee pads and Kevlar vests .
