I noe , practically every1 serving at that time are involved or feel the tense of the moment not just the commando,a lot of other units are involved. Afterall it was Defcon3!!!
I just did not want to reveal too much.
AFAIK, it is the most intense moment in the history of SAF, I am sure SAF must have detected some increased military activity in MY that prompted the increased in readiness!
Most probably some wayang from MAF to show their displeasure toward SG about the visit, therefore we have to do likewise, just in case.

Nono, they try to train and arm Girl guides and Girl's Brigade companys with figthing skills. They also close down SIR to prevent pple from running and they forcingly recruit students from universities and vocational institutes to join the army. Those refused were quietly hanged in Changi Prison. The army is so weak till the government have to seek the para-military forces for manpower aid and Airlines pilots were transferred without advance warning to airforce units. Sometime one have to really look at one's life and ask oneself what is important, therefore worthwhile to fight for, if you always think for yourself & nothing else then you actually do not owned anything!!!

ha, well, i do think that in war all pilots will be forced commision into RSAF........i even read in Defending the lion city that singapore youth flying club is actually name as a shadow RSAF squadron.........and since we got so many NCC nuts which knows how to wear camo and shot strighter then normal civilians, when we are desperate, why not us them for security or last resort defence.....of course not as a who battalion it self lah, integrate them into other units, let them learn from the soldiers......haha, but anyway, the incident i mention, anyone here fimiliar with it? my dad only knows the malaysia version..........anyone knows what was singapore gov's stand that time??

I seriously doubt if any NCC will be used in combation situations. A few years of NCC foot drills, some shooting...does not qualify one as a soldier. I would trust a over 40+ NSman who had completed his 13 yr cycle with a M16, than a NCC. You can't just take a NCC and throw him into some unit, and expect him to learn on the spot. He will be more of a libility, than an asset. Also, I remember some Geneva Convenction that under 16 are not allowed to be drafted ...or something like that. Also the lawsuits, screams and outburst from the parents!

During WW2, those between 18-50 werre drafted to fight. So, those older reservists will be called, not teenagers.

This is not a game of counterstrike my friend. A recruit after being trained in the basic stuff, undegoes further more training, excerises (a long time) before SAF considers him combat ready. ORD stands for Operational Ready Date...is not without meaning.
