RSAF's requirements for new trainers

  RSAF is interested in getting new trainers but this has been put off due to budget contraints. Will these new trainers replace the S.211 as basic trainers or the soon to be retired TA-4SU advanced trainers? What are the types RSAF is looking at? I last heard RSAF seems to be interested in the AT-63 but it was reported somwhere that Lockheed Martin seems to have shut down the production line due to some problems with the Argentina goverment.

  Both. Both types are due in for a replacement, with the replacement of the Super Skyhawks seemingly more pressing, and with the tendency of air forces to opt for a single type with regards to a basic jet trainer and a LIFT, it looks likely the new trainer would cover both requirements. I don't know which type will be selected, but I think the Hawk 100-series and T-50 will be strong contenders.

  I remember reading somewhere that Singapore had a stake in the MAKO trainer, or was offered a place in the program. I cannot remember which already...
