  i think they are doing a pilot now. and hence all those who want to get silver or gold must still go to the stadiums.
  
  however if they eventually decide to fully implement this, then everyone would be able to take their tests using the treadmills - regardless of whether they are going for awards or not.

  i find being fit for ippt doesn't mean u are physically fit for combat. i pass my ippt each year. but compare to when i was in bmt and now, i pass my ippt with more ease as i'm now older and the standard for passing has lowered, in fact once i even got silver duing ict when i could barely pass during my bmt. i've put on 10kg since bmt and muscles have weaken, but getting a silver for my ippt doesn't mean i'm fitter than a young recruit who can only pass.
