Raipier SAM - Is the end near?

  Anyone from 165 SADA?
  
  I have come across an article on how the rapier's shelf lives is coming to an end in some user countries eg Brunei.
  
  Just saw one more on RBS 70 for Australia as well.
  
  What's the situation for Singapore?
  
  Are we replacing it with VT-1s?

  In any case, such a matter would be handled by G5, or HQ ADSD. And probably the subject of a paper classified SECRET.
  Unwise to discuss it.
  
  But to help you, here's something. A analogy.
  Your food is about to expire.
  IT's tasty, but you've eaten it for years.
  Here are your choices.

  Confirm will change soon... Heard from a friend there... change to what, he didn't know. So now, all we can do is speculate what will be chosen...

  Very difficult to maintain too from what I see......
  
  Compared to the I Hawk system........serviceability lower
  
  Especially the Optical Tracker. Husky computer is impossible to use.
  
  But small and training sites easily obtained. They have deployed over many sites......
  
  That was years ago. Understand they went thru' an upgrade a while back. Not Jernas......
  
  The good old days......you know DMO was a fraction of what DSTA is today and they brought in a lot more systems and gave SAF new capabilities back then under BG Wesley.

  Yes,its true i heard about it too from a friend in SADA. As to its replacement, he refused to tell me and i did not press on further.

  wads the VT1? heh and they haven't really found a replacement for the bloodhounds yet..we can't get patriots i suppose..would piss the hell out of everyone..

  VT-1 is a hypervelocity? missile created by Lockheed? for Thales to use in their Crotale system. Now re-deployed in the upgraded Roland system as well.
  
  Roland sounds like a solid SAM system with redundant sensors both spectrally as well as EM wise. Dual banding everywhere.
  
  But the command consoles are a little dated and because they have so many sensors requires more crews to man.
  
  Bloodhounds long gone. But the bloody Scorpion TIRs can track those buggers very far out! That is when they work which is not often enough especially during ADEX. But when they do work can put the Mickey Mouse I Hawk to shame in a ECM free environment.
  
  S400 lah. Korea is getting them too.

  There is at least 1 thread somewhere in the forum where we discussed about the Rapier replacement. It seems like VT-1 missiles (Crotale NG - perhaps) will be the replacement.
