Since we are getting into semantics here, could you actually argue that the SAF is experienced? For the most part, our armed forces comprises of NSFs and NSmen, with only a small core of regulars, of which a smaller percentage has seen peacekeeping/peace enforcement action. Well-trained? SG has already done NS for decades, and has most of the kinks ironed out. M'Sia is starting now, and will have many stuff to straigthen before they have good community workers, let alone troops.
In a very real sense, NS has created a nation of riflemen in singapore, albeit not to the extent of sweden. If need be, it's theoretically possible to mobilise every TDH and have them as leg infantry in time of war.
And "bullet proof" is a oxymoron. Bullet proof? Vest proof against 9mm, i take 5.56. 5.56, use 7.62. and so on, and so on.
Correct phrase is "bullet resistant".

Second point, why would M'sia attack us over water? They have plenty of it!!
Wouldn't we logically attack them over H2O instead? They don't even need our filtration services for much longer.... 
Third, the purpose of M'sia's NS is to teach NE before their country falls apart because of ethnic divisions, not to really create community workers...therefore, their NS program is structured more towards NE lessons...the arms training session is just to instil discipline, that's all...a taste of so-called 'roughing it out' but not the comprehensive works...
Fourth, are we really able to mobilise every TDH as infantrymen? Not all of us that went through NS dealt with firearms, let alone field training; only those that got posted to the SAF or SPF (not even proper field training, although there's some). You're forgetting that the SCDF don't have para-military training...maybe we can have 'em patrol the streets holding pickaxes...

FFL are Mercenary serving under the French Govt..the French Govt use them to fight becos most of the are not French Citizen..so less backlash from the people..
the FFL was a different entity from the French Army..last time it command on its own..but after the FFL try to assasinate one of the Prez or PM(cant remember)n was discovered by the French Govt..from that on its part under Govt liao..correct me if im wrong.. -
If you can say tt, u probably havent been through NS, the amount of F-ups u encounter is mind boggling. Besides, where else in the world can a Navy Ship collide with a cargo ship by going against the flow of traffic. But i am in NS now.
No matter how many uh.. tool-ups we may have, i dont think we would allow a whole armskote to be emptied just because a colonel says so.
You dont really want to know the blunders commited by armies. Some of them are funny. Some outrageous. Some, tragic.
Quote one example: USS Indianapolis.
Clues: Nuclear material, I-58, massive mess up. -

well, maybe indeed i don't knoe about the recent FFl.....but the thing is it is hell more weaker then some othewr special forces.....for once, in indo-china, the whole FFL is desintergrated......and after a reform. desintergrated again........really gao siao sia.......and they insist on the FAMAS.... sad ah.........

there are stories on navy seal who drown before the mission start n its the commanding people that are to blame..
recommend that you buy this book call "Elite Forces" by Richard M Bennett..
lotsa success n failure story about the world Special Force..you are gona be surprise that there are more failure then success.. -
One of my prof was actually an ex-FFL soldier. He served in the airborne detachment of that outfit and saw action in Chad in the '80s...heard him tell me the stories of combat...lost four of his men KIA, and had to carry their bodies back to camp. Later took revenge when his unit ambushed the guerillas....sigh...war is hell....
From what I heard about his experience, he trained alonside the U.S. Special Forces and Rangers....his take on them? Good but a little too cocky...thought that they don't really need gloves in the desert since its just sand...turned out that when a sandstorm hits, its like coarse sandpaper rubbing on exposed parts of your body...their hands ended up bleeding like siow afterwards...lol
The FAMAS apparently was superior to the M-16 in that it didn't jam as much in desert conditions. The M-16 was not only prone to jamming, but also misfires...some G.I.s were killed by accident in the last Gulf War becos' of sand in the chamber causing misfires... -

All in all they were destroyed and reformed more times then i bother to remember.However that was because they drew the shit jobs and because of overall french military high command screwing up.After all the FFL doesnt number more then 20,000 and cannot fight on their own without support in a big war like indo china.Besides like i said it was the french high command that screwed up indo china.After all, 1 leigoniere dead is 1 french life spared. -
