All of us better get worried. A lot is at stake. We will have to carry the burden of taking care of our aging parents and many other elderly who do not have any children. It will also be a serious emotional and financial burden. The economy cannot be sustained with an aging population.Originally posted by AzRaeL:the government is always worrying about one thing or another; it is their job to worry.

plus a free car with no COE and road tax for 15 years?
furthermore... if the economy go into recession... for every baby in the family.. the household gets 1000 dollar per month until economy recovers...![]()

Sometimes when girls complain about how painful such a creative process is, I wonder if they would gladly trade pregnancy for concentration camp victim conditions or life in the freezing foxholes where death comes either through extreme cold, trench foot, getting your limbs blown off by shells or your guts torn from your body by bullets leaving you to writhe on the ground bleeding out large amounts of blood.

Come over to Canada. Great place to raise kids. Lower (in fact, much lower) cost of living than S'pore or even Australia. The gov't here actually encourages you to have kids by contributing $$$ to your child's Edusave (they call its RESPs in Canada), so that they have money to go all the way to university without taking too much a burden on you. Plus, they give you plenty of tax breaks for having kids...public school fees( secondary level) is only about $35-40 a year; and you don't have to buy textbooks too...you just take a 'long-term loan' from the school library for the entire school year and then just return it at the end. Neat huh?Originally posted by Moonstriker:heh... my girl plan to have a kid at 25 actually... but now... economy like this plus living expenses so fookin high... hard to realise that dream..

I read from newspaper report that having children is more than just giving them money to have children or the cost of having children.Originally posted by Tango1:Come over to Canada. Having a car is damn affordable, and so is a house. Big S'porean community too...especially in Vancouver; you'll never feel like you're away from home. Plus, the scenary is great.![]()
