RSS Formidable, RSS Intrepid, RSS Steadfast, RSS Tenacious, RSS Stalwart and RSS Supreme.
The Intrepid name was last used for an old LST. -
Are they so formindable?

Some of the names so chimz i gotta look up the dictionary for meaning.
After checking all of them, they all seems to mean strong in strength.
RSN is really banking hard on the strength of these Frigates to guard our waters / project strength. -

Project Delta frigates to enter service in 2007
Singapore has indicated that the Republic of Singapore Navy's (RSN's) new Project Delta multimission stealth frigates will enter service from 2007 - a slippage of about a year on the original programme announced in 2000.

my guess is that the integration of the equipment is not all that smooth. i think that there may still be bugs around after the service date...... just like our LRT and MRT
might not be that bad after all....... more time to choose the helos though.

The lead ship's name a lot of Sha Qi. Whenever they are really formidable or not doesn't really matter. It is still the most powerful ship in our Fleet. So must give appropriate name.
A good example is "Victory" for the MCVs in the late 80s or early 90s.
Actually I still think Pedra Branca is a good name lor, and will be even more provocative. -
Nice impressive names. 1st one is RSS Formidable. What's the names for the 2nd and so hulls?
So they can do better than look straight ahead even though a bloody giant ship was crashing into them! -

RSS Intrepid, RSS Steadfast, RSS Tenacious, RSS Stalwart and RSS Supreme. -

Anyway, what do here think of the names? I am told by some other people from overseas the names sounds very RN (Royal Navy) and they ask why we choose such names instead of something more local. After all, we are not ang moh or our naval tradition comes from the RN. -
Second to fifth ship names are very good ones. But first and last ones are really too provocative. The ones that gave and decided on the "Formidable" and "Supreme" must had chips on their shoulders. Sounds as if they are challenging anyone out there to dare come and sink their boat.
Genna collide with cargo ship not enough, now aiming for oil-tanker. -

Personally I think the new ships could be named after important icons of our nation:
RSS Yusoff bin Ishak (4th ship of the line)
RSS Benjamin Shears (5th ship of the line)
RSS Toh Chin Chye (3rd ship of the line)
RSS Goh Keng Swee (1st ship of the line)
RSS David Marshal (5th ship of the line)
RSS Albert Winsemius (2nd ship of the line) -

Couldn't agree with you more. Formidable was the name of an RN aircraft carrier back in WWII, Intrepid is the name of an RN LPD now decommisioned. The rest of the names just sound too close to the tradition of naming ships in the RN, esp. those in WWII. Maybe someone in RSN was trained in the RN!
