Malaysian GGK training (special operation group)

Got this info from the Malaysian military forum posted by i strongly believed ex GGK (i could be wrong though.....but highly unlikely).Most of his post were brand new to me cos i couldnt it anywhere else (internet/publications).
-Basicly there's 3 intake per year......4 months for the basics commando course.First month conducted at the GGK (Gerup Gerak Khas or SOG) base in Malacca.The first 30 days were aimed to select those fit for the basic commando course.Half normaly rejected after a month.
- After that another month after the PULPAK or Special Forces Training Centre.....another half or so will be drop from the list.Here they will tortured you like hell......not enough sleep,food or water.....
- Then came the jungle course.....they teach you tactics,raids,ambush,camo and a bunch of stuffs how to fight and win in the jungle.....and they do not use any rules...anything goes.Another half will be RTU before ending this course.
Then came the swamp course.....only given a pair of underwear.....they must learn to survive,hide,fight and win in the swamp......damn you.....if you think malay dont eat pork......think again....these commandos eat every god damn things!!!....they even eat humans parts!!One ex GGK were interviewed by local dailies and mentioned that it is adviseable for GGK troopers to eat part of the enemy flesh(blood the least).And cutting off enemy heads are standard practice.He got lucky back in 80's and killed 2 CT.......which he took a bite of the CT brains.
- Sea training were the worst part.....according to these guy.....its like they instructor really really try to drown you!!E&E took 10 days.....and at the end of the course only 20 percent would survived the ordeal......and still got to attend various others within the next 6 years before they could be a real commando.They were trained to kill cats and dogs with their bare hands before eating them......
1st Cdo SAF should scrap so call systematic training regimes - coz Malaysian GGK surely aint playing by the book. -

Ummm, how does all that brutality produce a better soldier? It might make a soldier more gung-ho, but will it improve discipline or professionalism? While most people's first idea of a commando is Rambo, nothing could be further from the truth. Most commandos are actually very quiet, gentle and disciplined chaps, not blood-drenched berserkers. I am not impressed by GGK at all if any of this is true.

well..... if eating your enemy is part of the trainning... GKK course now got one big problem... where to find an enemy to bite??
maybe they go to prison... find a death row prisoner... and send 12 GKK cannibals to eat the fellow up??
alternatively... they could try and eat a pig alive.
put that on the malaysian TV... and i wonder what the reaction from the malay muslim public would be... muahahaa.... -

The story is bit far fetched, eating chicken or any wild animals etc is ok for jungle survival training but eating human parts, a butch of cannibals worst than a bunch of barbarians , at least they don't eat humans!!!!!
I believe the mob of 60 soldiers that went on the rampage in a civilian town are from a camp in Malacca, if they are from the same camp, that's explain the kind of indiscipline due to this kind of trainings!!!!
Luckily, war dun just based on what kind of sadistic training one have, but rather on the quantity & quality of equipment as well as well trained professional soldiers.
Harimu, why dun you post the same thing in the World Armed forces forum & see how the rest of the civilised world feel abt this?

Physical training and hardiness notwithsatnding, a commando need fast thinking and cool intellect to meet with the demands of operations.
Look at the 1991 SIA hijacking, do they need brute force to overcome the terrorists? It requires actually speed and fast thinking on the part of the SOF. I have seen SOF range before, and man, the range is not like ours. I cant tell you much, but I can tell you the program is based on speed, not brute force or strength. Terrorists could be hardy, but they might think slower than the Pony Express, and is less calm to think ahead what to do.
I had the good experience of working under this spec who has gone thru ranger course.He is a fast thinker and always forecast ahead what to do.As he speak to you, he thinks of whats next to do.Worse, he produce results with us this way Hehe. In the end, we finish our job faster than terrorists can say "Hijack".
Even SAS has educated people who can produce books. And they do not have to be cannibals to be among the best. Or am i wrong? -

Hmmm, what do you mean brute force? I'll say it's aggression, speed and quick thinking that's their hallmark.
My personal opinion is that the '91 hijacking is not a good test of their abilities. Heck, the 'terrorists' are crap, armed with butter knives, and are no better than mannequins in the counter-terrorist's shooting house.
Even SAS has educated people who can produce books.
I dunno what you mean by educated. Do you consider Andy McNab or Charlie Beckwith educated?
Language course is in their curriculum and they're encouraged to research the culture they'll be working in, so I'm not surprised they're somehow educated, though many of them do not have especially high education. -
Thats a load of crap. You learn from jungle survival that when animals are killed, there are certain parts you dont eat because unless you can cook it properly, they actually screw up your stomach and hence your combat performance. Only part of a human that can be eaten without much incident is the buttock cheeks.
If GGK is trained to eat all kinds of crap, they are training to become scanvengers like hyenas. Only good place for them in the zoo or for safari hunting. -
With that kind of training they would end up killing half the armed forces best soldiers.And if word of this get's out there goes Malaysia's standing in the muslim world.Like said not every part of the human is edible with out proper preperation.And also drinking human blood makes you more thirsty because it's like drinking salt water.Chicken blood not so bad but try to lay of it since it aint good for you.And what's a CT?

The reason are
1. Harimau even though from MY, usually do not make up a story like that.
2. his posting seem to me like cut & paste from the original posting from MMF.

Dengan jawatannya sebagai Penolong Pengarah Operasi Bahagian Penyelidikan JPM, memang tidak dapat dinafikan bahawa ramai yang keliru tentang identiti sebenarnya lebih-lebih lagi beliau tidak pernah memakai pakaian tentera ke pejabat.
``Kerana itu ramai yang tidak percaya saya seorang pegawai tentera. Mereka juga tidak tahu pengalaman saya dalam tentera,'' kata Mejar Ridzwan Mohd. Yusof, 43, memulakan ceritanya kepada penulis.
Padahal bekas pelajar Sekolah Menengah Raja Muda Musa, Kuala Kangsar, Perak ini mempunyai banyak pengalaman menarik sepanjang berkhidmat dalam tentera darat sejak 23 tahun lalu.
Malah beliau merupakan salah seorang penerima Pisau Kehormat Angkatan Tentera (Pikat), satu lambang keberanian yang jarang diterima oleh pegawai atau anggota Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM).
Namun di atas keberanian yang ditunjukkannya dalam satu operasi khas di Ladang Sungai Gapis, Serendah Selangor 16 tahun lalu, beliau telah dianugerahkan pisau itu.
Ridzwan masih ingat, tanggal 6 Jun 1987, beliau yang ketika itu berpangkat Leftenan Muda bersama sembilan anggotanya dari 91 Rejimen Khas Perisikan Tempur (RKPT) Kem Changkat, Batu Gajah Perak telah digerakkan ke Balai Polis Rawang untuk melaksanakan satu operasi khas.
Operasi itu ialah selepas kejayaan polis Cawangan Khas menangkap dua orang wanita yang disyaki pengganas komunis pada kira-kira pukul 12 tengah hari di Klinik Darham, Rawang semasa salah seorang daripada mereka mahu menggugurkan kandungan.
Hasil soal siasat yang dijalankan, polis mendapat maklumat bahawa terdapat lagi dua orang musuh yang sedang menanti kepulangan kedua-dua wanita itu di satu kawasan ladang getah di Sungai Gapis.
Mereka dipercayai dari Unit Penggempur Ke-6 Parti Komunis Malaya (PKM) yang diketuai oleh Cheong Chor.
Selepas diberikan taklimat, pasukan Ridzwan dengan dibantu dua ekor anjing pengesan dan penjaga, seorang anggota Cawangan Khas serta seorang ejen khas kerajaan yang merupakan bekas pengganas komunis telah diarah menjejak musuh terbabit.
``Kami sampai di ladang itu pada pukul 3.30 petang dengan memakai pakaian awam.
``Semua senjata kami simpan dalam beg guni untuk mengelakkan kehadiran kami diketahui oleh penduduk setempat,'' katanya.
Selepas turun dari kenderaan, Ridzwan mengarahkan semua anggotanya bersembunyi di satu kawasan paya yang terletak tidak jauh dari tepi jalan.
``Apabila semua telah bersedia, barulah kami bergerak menuju ke satu kawasan tanaman getah melalui satu denai di paya berkenaan.
``Baru bergerak kira-kira 800 meter, anggota hadapan saya telah ternampak kelibat empat lelaki di atas sebuah bukit berhampiran sebuah rumah Orang Asli di situ.
``Melihat pakaian dan peralatan yang dibawa kami syak mereka adalah musuh yang dicari,'' katanya.
Untuk memastikan musuh tidak terlepas, Ridzwan lalu mengatur satu serangan dari bawah bukit ke atas musuh yang berada kira-kira 300 meter di hadapan mereka.
``Malangnya apabila kami telah berada kira-kira 30 meter dari rumah tersebut, dua daripada lelaki terbabit tiba-tiba hilang. Kami syak mereka telah menghidu kehadiran kami,'' ujar beliau.
Melihat keadaan itu, mereka segera menyerbu ke halaman rumah tersebut dan mendapati hanya tinggal seorang lelaki Orang Asli bersama anak lelakinya.
Ridzwan kemudiannya bertanya kepada mereka tentang kedua-dua lelaki berkenaan, namun mereka tidak mahu memberi kerjasama.
Selepas didesak akhirnya mereka mengaku bahawa ada dua lelaki Cina yang bersembang dengan mereka tetapi telah lari ke arah hutan.
``Dia juga kata kedua-dua lelaki itu ada senjata dan ini menambahkan lagi keyakinan kami bahawa mereka itu adalah pengganas,'' katanya.
Walaupun begitu, Ridzwan tidak terus mengarahkan anggotanya mengejar musuh, sebaliknya bertindak menyerbu ke atas rumah Orang Asli itu untuk memastikan dia tidak berbohong.
Selepas berpuas hati tiada sesiapa di situ, barulah penjejakan dilakukan dengan bantuan anjing pengesan.
``Semasa penjejakan itu, kami menjumpai satu kawasan pokok getah yang aneh kerana ia agak bersih serta terdapat banyak simbol pengganas di pokok seperti anak panah dan daun yang dipatahkan.
``Kami percaya itu merupakan kawasan pertemuan musuh dan ia turut dipersetujui oleh bekas pengganas yang ikut kami,'' katanya.
Mereka turut yakin musuh tadi masih berada sekitar situ. Bagaimana pun, mereka tidak boleh melakukan penggeledahan memandangkan hari sudah hampir gelap.
``Ini dia punya rumah. Jika kita bertindak juga takut nanti berlaku kemalangan jiwa pada pihak kita,'' nasihat ejen khas kepada Ridzwan.
Sebaik ejen khas itu memberi pandangan, beliau berbincang pula dengan anggota terup yang sebahagian besar merupakan anggota komando Rejimen Gerak Khas sebelum diserapkan ke RKPT.
Mereka kemudiannya bersetuju untuk bergerak ke sebatang jalan raya yang jaraknya kira-kira 1.5 kilometer.
Semasa melalui satu denai di belakang bukit dari tempat serangan awal yang gagal sebelum itu, Ridzwan menukar fikirannya secara mengejut sambil mengarahkan semua anggotanya naik semula ke atas bukit berkenaan.
``Kita buat serang hendap di sini malam ini,'' tegas Ridzwan.
Kesemua anggotanya akur dengan arahan tersebut. Tepat pukul 7 malam, beliau mengarahkan semua anggota mengambil kedudukan masing-masing.
Sementara menunggu kemunculan kelibat musuh, Ridzwan berbincang dengan Sarjan Rahmat tentang strategi seterusnya seandainya musuh tidak muncul pada malam itu.
``Tengah asyik berbincang, kira-kira pukul 7.30 malam tiba-tiba saya mendapat isyarat daripada Koperal Aziz Shafie.
Musuh!!! Jerit Aziz dengan nada suara terkawal sambil menunjukkan tempat di mana musuh berada selepas seorang anggota terdengar bunyi ranting patah dipijak orang.
Mendengar sahaja tentang itu, Ridzwan terus mengeluarkan gogal penglihatan malam yang dibawanya dan ternampak bayangan dua manusia yang sedang berjalan sambil membawa senjata api.
Beliau kemudiannya berlari ke arah Aziz untuk melihat bayangan yang disyaki musuh itu dengan lebih dekat.
Apabila musuh semakin hampir, Ridzwan dalam keadaan berdebar-debar mengarahkan Aziz menumpukan perhatian pada musuh yang berjalan di depan manakala beliau pada musuh di belakang.
Tiba-tiba Aziz dengan berani mencabar lembaga tersebut sebanyak dua kali dengan kata jodoh `kaki bangku' untuk mengetahui mereka musuh atau bukan.
Tetapi tiada jawapan balas dari kedua-dua lelaki itu dan sebaliknya mereka cuba melarikan diri.
Disebabkan itu, dengan bantuan dua buah gogal yang dibawa, Ridzwan dan Aziz terus melepaskan tembakan terhadap musuh.
Tidak cukup dengan senjata M-16, mereka gunakan juga senjata Pump Gun secara bergilir-gilir.
``Pertempuran berlaku selama 20 minit. Selepas itu kami tidak kedengaran tembakan balas dari musuh.
``Tetapi kami tidak pasti sama ada musuh telah mati atau tidak walaupun melalui gogal kami nampak mereka seperti tidak bergerak lagi di celah pokok getah,'' ujarnya.
Untuk mendapatkan kepastian Ridzwan dan Aziz melontar empat butir bom tangan untuk memastikan musuh benar-benar telah mati, namun selepas itu masih kedengaran bunyi suara musuh mengerang kesakitan sehingga pukul 11.30 malam.
Pada pukul 12 malam pasukan bantuan tiba dan selepas itu barulah mereka membuat penggeledahan.
``Dari penggeledahan kami dapati kedua-dua lelaki itu telah mati. Turut ditemui ialah dua laras Carbine, dua butir bom tangan, 1,800 butir peluru serta beberapa dokumen dalam tulisan Cina,'' ujar beliau.
``Sebelum mayat musuh dibawa keluar pada malam itu saya mengambil secubit otak musuh untuk dimakan bagi mengelakkan terkena badi mayat.
``Aziz pula mencalit sedikit darah musuh pada lidahnya tetapi saya tak lalu berbuat macam itu,'' katanya sambil memberitahu salah seorang yang dibunuh merupakan Ahli Jawatankuasa Daerah PKM.
Ekoran kejayaan itu, pada 16 September 1987, Ridzwan dan Aziz telah dianugerahkan Pikat oleh Panglima Angkatan Tentera, Jeneral Tan Sri Ghazali Che Mat sempena Hari Ulang Tahun ATM ke-54. Dua tahun kemudian, Ridzwan dianugerahkan pula Pingat Kepujian Perutusan Keberanian (KPK).
Walaupun begitu, beliau tidak mungkin dapat melupakan trauma yang dialami oleh mereka berdua selepas pertempuran tersebut.
``Selama hampir setahun saya asyik merasakan sentiasa diekori oleh musuh walau ke mana sahaja manakala Aziz selalu terkejut apabila terdengar bunyi ranting patah ketika dalam hutan.
``Adakalanya tingkah laku Aziz mencemaskan kami,'' katanya yang kadang kala merasa lucu mengenangkan semula gelagat mereka ketika itu.

from the article, i do not think that eating the enemy has anything to do with military or GGK training.
It is more of a superstitious believe...ie by eating/drinking something from the dead enemy they hope to prevent being possesed by the spirit from the dead. -

he did not eat much, just a little ...more like tasting the brains/blood (it was just a symbolic ritual rather than actually consuming large quantities).
I think its just a superstitions ritual...to avoid being possessed by the spirit of the dead....probably based it on some legends from the dayaks or ibans (who were headhunters sometime back).
It certainly did not have any scientific or even religious origins.
Side note, I did not need any training to consume the pig brains soup that my mum concocted to "improve" by brainpower for my exams....and btw, it did not taste yucky. -
