A result of the education system in Singapore ? The elitist education system that begin to segregate childrens at too young an age ?Originally posted by zichuan:anyway im going to ord soon, i felt that malays and chinese cant get along well...what you guys think of it?

No, depends whether it's a favourable or unfavourable clash.Originally posted by Parka:Unless their 8 zhi clash.
Unfortunately, there are less Malays then there are Chinese and Indians in the Army, which reflects the actual population mix in Singapore where there are more Chinese then the other ethnic groups.Originally posted by zichuan:even though last time in the army, they allowed malays and chinese to mix together while having lunch and so on.. siting together.. but till now from what i see is still the same.. they have their group and chinese we have our group. they are too lazy and always sleep.. slack more then chinese.. thats why there is less malay officers.. if they can work hard they can even win us chinese in singapore.. but.. no comments.. if i would like to do business i will not do with a malay, i would rather do it with indians..![]()
Well, in a simple scenario, if the rules of natures dictates only ten percent of each ethnic group becomes achievers or successful, compare 10% of Chinese to 10% of Malays or 10% of Indians. Give or take, prominently there would be more Chinese officers than Malays or Indians.Originally posted by Atobe:Unfortunately, there are less Malays then there are Chinese and Indians in the Army, which reflects the actual population mix in Singapore where there are more Chinese then the other ethnic groups.
If that is the case, there are more Chinese who are just as unwilling to serve, or grudgingly serve NS, and there will be more Chinese who will 'eat snakes' then one can find Malays doing the same.
Those Malays who make it to OCS are quite a different lot from the other Malays (and like the Chinese, Indians and Eurasians) who remain as Other Ranks due to their lower education.
The young Malays that make it to OCS are as hardworking as the other Singaporean ethnic groups; and have shown their willingness to accept challenges to such an extent that they excel in their performance compared to Singaporeans of Chinese, Indian or Eurasian descent.
Let us not take a broad sweep of the brush from some individual incident.
Think that indian and chinese can get along beter than malays because there;s many things common in both culture..u see chinese beng..u also see indian beng...and SS all over singapore also refuse to take in malay..on the issue of malay slacking , i guess its not fair to say that...there are many chao keng of all races..all of the same..they hate NS..Originally posted by zichuan:even though last time in the army, they allowed malays and chinese to mix together while having lunch and so on.. siting together.. but till now from what i see is still the same.. they have their group and chinese we have our group. they are too lazy and always sleep.. slack more then chinese.. thats why there is less malay officers.. if they can work hard they can even win us chinese in singapore.. but.. no comments.. if i would like to do business i will not do with a malay, i would rather do it with indians..![]()

1 more thing i notice is that if 1 of their race gets into trouble...dun care whereter if he is at fault at first or not...the rest all charge up 1. No amount of explaining can help 1Originally posted by fugue:No, I think it's just preference. Like Chinese would prefer to be around with people of their own race, not that they hate other races...
Is that a minority? I'm sure people are not that senseless.Originally posted by ryangian:1 more thing i notice is that if 1 of their race gets into trouble...dun care whereter if he is at fault at first or not...the rest all charge up 1. No amount of explaining can help 1
