er..yes, they do. Just gotta call up and fix an apptOriginally posted by tankee1981:I dun think they will let any civilian to visit the AHC. Firstly the place is a bit run down and the vehicles there is a bit ill-maintained. However it have a Iraqi T-72 tank from the 1st Gulf war. Its originally meant for the Singapore Discovery Centre, however the hull is so badly rusted that only the turret remains. Another feature is the Bionix prototype which is used during the testing period.![]()
That's a good oneOriginally posted by spencer99:There is no need for a Armour Heritage center. All the first generation types are still in service. Like V200, M113 and AMX-13. Just visit Army Open House to view the historic relics.
u mean they are all shifted to 8SAB?? which part? i go back and take a look..Originally posted by erijazz:call up 8 SAB to find out![]()
You can do it, why not .Singapore have been using M113 since 1970s but it has undergone phases of upgrades to the present day ultras. So has AMX-13 to Sm-1. They are definity not the same vehicles. U can probably also include V200s from past-day front line veh to the present day modified ADA versions. Also U can inlcude the armour combat engineer vehs too. i suppose.Originally posted by one35th:Hi All,

Adjacent to 42SAR, yes the place is always closed unless some big shot arriving from overseas for a visit.Originally posted by Shotgun:Finally... *sob* someone recognizes the engineers... I'm so touched.... *breaks down crying.*
The AHC is just beside 46SAR cookhouse in SG camp. I didnt know Cvlians had free access into SG.
The way it looks, it always looks closed too me. Hahaha. Oh and of course got these 3 vehicles painted desertbrown.... one of them looks like a Sheridian to me. Can't identify it... anyone can?
as cvivilian, i did pay a visit to the centre during a weekday in 1999. I called the AHC # given by mindef operator..You are right that it's usually closed but if you want to visit, they'll arrange for someone to be there to open up the place, just for you. THat's what happened to me.Originally posted by Shotgun:The way it looks, it always looks closed too me. Hahaha. Never been to Puckapunyal myself (wonder why I missed it) in the 4 years I was at Melbourne although I've heard about it. Oh well, I fully intend to go back to Melb sometime in the near future so I could always pop by. Ged you in there for the long term?Originally posted by Gedanken:Well, going a bit OT here, but if you happen to be in Melbourne after the beginning of next year, let me know and I can take you up to the Australian Army's Armour museum in Puckapunyal - it's open to the public.
Check out their website: http://www.armytankmuseum.com.au/
