OCS will only accept Diploma onwards.Originally posted by swenn:ya my bf did got ask to sign on and he tried to but got rejected.
because he tried to change his course halfway in poly and end up with no diploma by the mistake of his lecturer . when he realise it , he was sent to completed ns service.
now he is bounce back to o levels .
plus he wasted the diploma fees and gov tution fund . >.<
so he tot he might as well sign up for a post in combat section I think but got rejected due to low education and PR status. because of low education he is also not accpeted in ocs...
so he tot in worse situation is if he could join as singapore citizen and do an application again .
he is currently only holding 3rd sergent rank in bmt..
so I asked if he want to sign up for logistic like some of my friend's bf but he is kindda pondering over it ....
I see .. sigh chapalang diploma he sure dun want .. because he mention it to me abt that .Originally posted by kopiosatu:OCS will only accept Diploma onwards.
Your bf only has O levels? then how did he get the 3SG? by right he should just be a CPL. And you said he's in BMT? did he just go in or is he an instructor there?
tell your bf to think before he sign on... if not, he'll be cursing and swearing his whole life in there. The contract is 10 years, and when they pay you to study its applicable before you go into army.
You can sign on THEN hope they send u to further your education. But i think that's for technical vocations only... I think if you go into combat they send u to dunno what chapalang diploma...
2 things i know.......1 the 6 years does not include NS time served(unless u havent been through NS then it will count)....and 2 while studying it does not count as serving the bond. However going back during the holidays if he does will count.Originally posted by swenn:Hi I hear that frm a friend that Actually if we's willing, we can sign up for those SAF bonds too.. They will c u thru ur education.. Tink they give u $1200 every mth till u fin... But we have to serve them for 6 yrs aft we graduate.. Bt it includes the 2.5 yrs NS.. so nt so bad leh...
but I always tot that SAF will decided what you study ?
cause my bf is going to completed his ns service and he has intention to study design dip .
can he sign up the bond and study design dip with the help of the bond and after he finishes he will serve the bond ?
will the 6 yrs bond minus his 2.5 years NS service .
during his 3 years diploma , he will be call back to do duties as well? If so will this be minus from the 6 years bond as .
leaving him like 2 years in army after he graduate?
what kind of posts they will assign to him after he graduate?
can someone help me?
thanks thanks
yes, after ord, no payback. unless u going for some award or scheme they haf.Originally posted by swenn:Is it that if we apply for the contract after ord . there will not be any pension? payback? or a sum of money credit to us?
what the diff when u sign on before serving NS and after serving NS?
pension scheme is old sch..Originally posted by swenn:Is it that if we apply for the contract after ord . there will not be any pension? payback? or a sum of money credit to us?

Is it a better choice to sign up with air force then? cause the pay is higher although it is harder to get eonroll in also . and u dun have to go through bmt again .
if u truely like the profession whether or not u get the backpay shud not affect ur career decision.Originally posted by swenn:oh if there is no pay back if sign up after ns , is'nt it quite lugi cause the amount is not small to be wasted .
also the starting salary is quite low and going up e rank also depend on your ability to make your seniors happy . sometimes not a manly job as it seems.
what if you are a seg after ns and u sign up , the salary will be higher than if u are a man after ns? and u can just continue as a sag but this time is working?
true true but it also no harm or wrong to check the benefits that you can gain heeOriginally posted by wuming78:if u truely like the profession whether or not u get the backpay shud not affect ur career decision.

not really a design base. it is more like multimedia , making animations and those . IT multimedia dip. from nyp .Originally posted by fandango:Sign on only if he like the job.
On appearance, the get-salary-during-studies, bond and everything looks very attractive. But do remember that the SAF have been doing this business for donkey years and there are a lot of catch-es in the contract terms. Always read the fine prints.
What happens if he fails to complete his diploma programme? Liquidation means a lot of money.
One has to be PR or Singapore citizen before SAF can accept his application.
You just can't choose your vocation. You can list your preference but at the end of the day, it does depend on the requirement of the different arms.
Design Dip? Then he is bound for Army. Air Force and Navy only interested in technical skills (engineering and such).
