How young can a Major be?

Any idea about what is the earliest possible age to attain the MAJ rank?

Would you believe me if I tell you that I have seen RSAF majors that are at the most 27 to 28 years old? Yup, they do exist and most are probably SAF scholars.

I second that. If I remember clearly, the graduate scholars come in as captains fresh from school. 27 to 28. my cousin went for the SAFOS talk when he was considering which PSC scholarship to take. Major at age 28 was wad they told him.

I'm on track to be a Major at 28 so I fail to see why 28-30 year old Majors are a big deal
I'm not a scholar anyway and I won't be alone in getting it at that age nor the first to do so by "time-norm"
Most SAFOS will be ard 27, those who get at 26 are "legends", eg, HJO, his younger bro, and a few other famous pple. They are the well known 29 year old LTCs and 32-33 year old COLs.... -

hey heres a challenge. after your bond ends, instead of continuing the easy way in e SAF, come out and start from the bottom again in the corporate world. im sure if u're very abled u should be able to hit it big in no time, right? -

Good Honours Grad CPT salary range $3,981 - $6,405. In HK$, 18,192-29,268.
In Hong Kong, PC Constable (A level/ HKCEE) after academy is already HK$15,520 - $22,370. Inspector/ Snr inspector (basic degree/ diploma) is HK$26,245 - $57,110.
But I guess they do real security work.

these SAFOS guys. they are commissioned even b4 they finish OCS, so that they can go study. so fresh into uni at age 19, they are already ful LTA. near the end of their studies, about the time when they come back to army, they get their captain rank. thats about age 23 to 24, latest. The bond ends when they are 28, right near the end of their bond, they are promoted to major as SAF's way of enticing these people to re-sign. so yes. there are 28 yr old majors. even 27 ones.
but still my challenge is, to not re-sign and come out into the world to start all over again. -
Those who come out after one contract do not really have to start from the bottom. They just need to go into any GLC and they should be able to start from middle management level. Otherwise, if they extend, they should come out comfortably as a LTC or COL and go into senior management as my AVP/VP was at SingTel and those who I saw in Keppel - same thing.

the scholars disrupt their svc sometime after their 2nd term in ocs, and proceed to study. however all their time spent studying are counted towards their service. hence a few months after they leave for studies, they would be "commissioned" to LTA - together with the rest of their batch of cadets, as though they went through the whole entire occ with them. and one yr after tt they are promoted to CPT. so if their studies last for 4 yrs, by the time they return they would have served as a CPT for about 2.5 yrs, they get promoted after 3-4 yrs as a CPT, when they are about 26-27.
so the way they are faster than the rest is due to their being able to concurrent study and serve, not to mention their accelerated career advancement. -
