our defense science labs are doing research into this area not unlike wat the US is doing on body armour, computer systems for individual soldiers, etc etc - the advanced combatman.Originally posted by Temujin:It's good to know but there is very little investment for personal issue equipment for the soldiers.
The issued stuff is not up to par to world conflicts as during the UN missions, the soldiers are issued US GI equipment.
We are still using the M16A1.
hm. i tot nowadaes aloto units are buying all the men waterbags? o cos mabbe not by camelbak but serves the same purpose.Originally posted by Temujin:Well, the Camelbak hydration is still not a standard issue, whatever happened to the heat injuries studies ?
well i dunno. if u do mabbe u wanna tell us here?Originally posted by Temujin:Yes, generic hydration system but remember the 6% GDP defence budget. It's unit fund and not in the SAF inventory.

just thinking....what purpose or even advantage does it have to locate the warhead towards the back of the missile?Originally posted by SingaporeTyrannosaur:Still waiting for our hypersonic cruise missiles man:
Conceptual... but imagine what we could do with such technology... the moment Malaysia fires their ASTROS II, this missile will be on their butts before they even have the time to pack up and leave. All we have to do is to aquire the target.
Cool...
Dun u all think that early 2005 is too late already?Originally posted by Fairyland:Early 2005! Push back again!
I tot the naval helis would be on schedule for contract signing in AA2004? The longer they delay the more attractive the S-92 option becomes.
At least they know when not to spend........
Friend, at nearly 2 times the speed of APFSDS rounds, were you place the warhead hardly matters...Originally posted by tiggersgd:just thinking....what purpose or even advantage does it have to locate the warhead towards the back of the missile?
i'm not a missile expert but i remember seeing warheads on missiles to be slightly behind or in the middle of the missile...but i noticed that the drawing is towards the back and near to the combustion engines.![]()

so its in essence a bunker buster??Originally posted by SingaporeTyrannosaur:Friend, at nearly 2 times the speed of APFSDS rounds, were you place the warhead hardly matters...
But to scratch your itch, this is a penetrator missile, designed to penetrate about 30-50 feet into concrete before it goes ba boom. Hence the warhead is usually placed behind, rather then the tip which is in this case a dense penetrator cone... if not you won't get a big bang deep inside the target but just a surface explosion that cosmetically damages the concrete but does little else...
