yoyo, me 14th BSLC from E coy. Last batch of Sispec trainees to spend time at PLC. I really "love" the parade square and all the bloody hills there. it's like living in the training area. hahahah....
wa seh friend, B coy is xiong during my time leh, i remember they had makeup for ex Nutcracker during one of their weekend. Maybe I think your OC need them to familiarize with Tekong ground after digging at Mandai in the first round....

Ah yes, who can forget the all too common mistake of directing your company to go prone in an area that another previously used as a field toliet? And heavy rains with muddy ground has allowed much of the swill to resurface through the soil.
When taking cover, large, lush grass is good, but there could be a reason why they are that way, especially when the rest of the plants are not as lush... -

hey sepjc96, you said your OC nearly kenna charged. for what huh? I know that during the 14th bslc, some instructor from Bravo threw a helmet at a trainee during section live firing and he was left bleeding at the head. got heard before or not?
And another story about B coy from long long ago, the OC forced a trainee to run until he collapsed and died.
there was a story about B coy which says that during one of their training at ROC, the trainees were forced to apply faeces on their face. THis was from long long ago too. Got hear before or not? Many pple committed suicide at Bravo too leh, from what i've heard.
From what i've observed lah, Bravo and Foxtrot are the most jialat during my time. hehehe... -

Sad to say tat was my lst n only canteen break in bravo..
Few batches b4 me.. one trainee died in ROC during ASLC cos he was deemed as chao keng when he tried to report sick..
One trainee was caught with a box of live ammo..n runour has it tat he wanted to shoot ferendez wif it..
the case was still pending when i was in BSLC
Of cos all this were from word of mouth only
no time to tink of it too cos no strength..

We saw a rover turning in less than 50 metres away and in a space of less than 5 secs the whole lot of us cleared the road..
hahaha...toilet clog up after a few ppl bathed..

i'm not quite sure....wat i heard is bout a trainee leaping of the building, which i suppose was some big shot's son, and eventually, the oc was demoted 2 ranks, after which he crawl back think thru recomendations from the CO, not sure lah, anyways, during my batch i think one of the trainee miss fire live round on the floor rite in front of him at plc, heard only, no cfm, heh...
suicide case are much rare during my times, dunno bout b4, maybe there was, but until they are cfm lah...
true lah, bravo quite shiong, 1st to book in, last to book out every weekend, quite morale low actually, but lloking back now, those days were indeed memorable, hehehe -

oh, got one quite cock up one, but din happened to me, but to another fren in alpha coy, also 16th bslc. there were many hornet attacks den. and in one case, one of the trainee while trying to save his buddy, tried to cover him wif a poncho, unfortunately, he din realised he was covering his buddy wifr a couple of hornets, and the next thing he knew, his buddy was struggling to pat his pack and jumping around in haste...

The closest miss fire case happened during my safincos slc course in fibua night live firing.
there's one detail where there's a miss fire and the controller came out with a cut ear ... it was that close. it seemed that when the detail sotrmed the room, the round went off while the barrel was in the 'hi pod' position and the round grazed the sgt's ear.

In war though, if the only cover is a latrine trench, taking cover in it will be fatal. The toxic fumes from the waste will quickly overcome you, if you have any open wounds you are a quick case of infection and blood poisioning and of course, there is a one off chance the entire trench might blow up if it takes a direct hit. -

Here's an oldie we still chuckle about.
Night raid on Tekong comms position...
Platoon seizes objective, establishes perimeter defense. Sapper team moves in to blow comms equipment. Whole sapper squad tumbles into a huge 8 feet deep recently-dug pit beside comms hut that no one knew about and couldn't see in the dark. Four sappers; broken limbs, bad cuts, bruises and sprains, one downgraded to Pes B. Just to evac them and equipment from the pit in the dark was an operation.
PC and Sgt have to extricate all the charges from the pit and set to blow comms equipment, not knowing exactly what they are looking at they blow only a small radio after being on the objective two hours, leaving comms station operable. Even then in a real situation reinforcements would have long been on the scene.
Total mission failure with heavy real casualties to evacuate all the way across Tekong to jetty. Almost no transport on Tekong in those days! -
yeah, quite small size and quite thin. I think the only malayu instructor then. caused nearly 2/3 of my section to OOC. after i got posted out of bslc, heard that all the regulars were put under him duirng aslc and 1 guy challenged to fight with him. hahaa... that's how asshole he is.

my neighbour who's an ex-cdo told me this funny story
they were tasked to conduct a raid on a mortar battery
the cock ups:
- they have no idea what is a mortar battery
- 'what is a mortar' ?
- do what after that? blow it up ?
well, the mortar batter in question they were suppose to raid was a 120mm SP battery ... i.e. those mortars in M113s.
so the platoon of them landed and they went ahead with the raid.
run and run and run and popped into the listening post. They also blur blur ask the LP where's the battery.
here the LP from 21 SA can take a bow ... they told the raiders where to go.
the the platoon went on running and running and popped into the 1st M113 w/ camo netting and all that
and so they conducted the raid process ... and captured the vehicle and went through the motion of blowing up the mortar.
then guess what ... the veh commander also damn switch off and asked them if they are going to do this for the remaining 5 M113s that already know what they are doing.
wah ... the cdo platoon jaw drop ... another 5 vehicles ... come on lah ...
then the battery commander also come over to look see look see ... becos the cdo platoon thought the ex. was over with the capture of the first vehicle.
ex. fail ... game over ... cock up lah -
Anyone heard abt the "13 tai bao"?? They shared money to buy lottery and kena the top prize and it was during one of the live firing exercise that the results was announced and they asked the dyty clerk to check the results. After they realise that they had the winning ticket, instructed the clerk to safe keep the ticket in OC's office vault while waiting for them to come back. Each of them paid for a new car after that

Mine goes like this.. We had this defence exercise, where we dug in, Mob4(??!!?), in the afternoon heat. Held our positions and awaiting some enemies' attacks..
My trench contacted heavy enemy fire power, and so we comms for support... So here comes our gung ho reinforcements in the form of the mg-gunner and assistant. Who doubled to my trench, stand in the open (bua long long) and asked "Hey, where's the enemy huh??" As we weren't issued with the dioptic inserts for our masks, so we had to make do without any glasses on.. And due to the cold weather, the mask ALWAYS fogged up. So vision was really errr..... blurred. So as all might have guessed, the mg-gunner and assistnant were downed.. without firing a single shot on his mg. LOL.
Next came the PC and his runner. he's more tactical... He squated behind a tree, just 5-10m IN FRONT of the enemy, turn around and asked "Wheres the enemy huh?".. Before his runner can ans, they're pronounced 'dead'.
S3 witnessed the whole ordeal where we—entrenched—lost out to just one section of enemies.. He was fuming mad boy... And a IPPT-gold section mate of ours had a heat stroke shortly after.. So ex was 'echoed'.
