ok ... ok ... 19th SSL batch SAFINCOS Echo company guys should know this.
we were on platoon mission and the instructors really tekkaned us bad from the moment we dropped off the tonner into ulu sembawang. So in the night, 1 fella (who kana sect. cmmd appt) who just came back from his mission, and did not really fare very well in the evaluation, was ordered by the instructor to do a powder bath. I don't really know the reason why lah ... i also kana sect cmmd appt for another section.
and in the midst of the powder bath ... we got contacted by another platoon.
can you imagine another more 'suay' moment for that fella ?
sbo, helmet, MILEs, rifle, boots, everything .... everything ... all off. and looking white as a ghost ... and kana contacted. how to be more suay.
and kana sect cmmd some more ... so how ? run back naked to section to assume command or what ? how ?
and i was organising my section into fighting position and awaiting my PC's orders. then i saw him. the instructor also didn't care. so the fella asked if i could help him. huh ? how to help him? he asked if i can help him gather his items so he can put them on faster. i told him i am sect cmmd leh ... got section to worry about. he looked around (his own section was pretty far away lah ... ) so ... what to do ... started dressing up. (p.s. incidentally ... by the time he finished dressing up, the platoon was ordered to relocate ... damn the MILEs lah). i tell you ... all the sections that had to 'movement' past him ... were shaking heads and sniggering at the same time.
this was not the most cock up some more. during the contact, the instructors intervened in the fire and movement and somehow, 2 of the sections were facing each other and were 'firing' away. the sect cmmds knew this and told the instructors but ... aiyah ... that time who had guts to question the instructors one. the PC and our CSM saw this some more ... PC became very angry.
Our PC was howling his voice out for the sect cmmds to gather and that fella was still trying to put his MILEs on. When we gathered, the PC asked why there was 1 section that was commandered by a 2 i/c and where the bonkers did the sect cmmd go. the fella raised his hand and replied that he was the sect commander but also could not atriculate why he was absent from the whole fire fight. then the instructors got tekkaned, and the sect commanders got tekanned (and kana extras when we returned to camp), and the platoon was made to run up and down a hill casavacing casualties the whole friggin' night (because we screwed up the contact).
sigh .... last time is like this one ... trainees go in the mission blurr, get tekanned and come out blur blur also. did not learn anything, just get screwed. -

not exactly cockd up.., but funny..once, at tekong while doing some section movement during BMT, my buddy and i were contacted...and we did what good solders do lah..chong into some protective cover...advanced...fired etc..proned...except my buddy proned onto some quite freshly human shit boy!...what can i say?and that was just the first day of field training.....tekongs too over crowd !
as for cocked up missions.., we once had this really cannot make it medic, who happen be the VC of the abulance M113....we were doing this really siong and major exercise,,,doing lots of advance when suddenly..we heard over the coms...the encik screaming his head off..turn out that the cock medic cum VC had guided our precious M113 rite into enermy camp...had actually stoped the vehicle and best part was, he was looking for our encik! -
we set up our BnSA in LCK and it was 9+ in the night, men were resting after a stand-to.
suddenly... we were contacted by enemy and all hell broke loose...
return fire, thunder flash being thrown.... nobody can see what is happening ard him
then was told to cease fire, enemy has been repelled...
before we have the chance to re-group, contacted again...
the men opened fire without knowing who they are shooting at...
finally, after a brief gunfight, we realised the 'enemy' is one platoon from Bravo coy. they are supposed to be the reinforcement force!

Not actually screw up :
A) Was posted to 21SA (SP Mortar) as a TA during my NS time. We had our first BN ex. and it was a reverse ex. i.e. action during the night time and plan/rest in the day time. After 4 days and 3 nights ex, we were practically exhausted so we were extremely glad to hear ex cut on the last morning. So all happily check equipment, load up into our M113 and drove all the way back to camp.
While we were bathing, we saw one of our TA happened to have just returned. He was stills sleeping when the ex was cut and we literally forgotten about him.
He had to flag a cab along the main road to come back to camp. Luckily his rifle was with us in the M113. Imagine what would happened if he were to flagged down a cab with his M16 with him.
Some what screw up :
A) I was the FDC TA and during one of our FATEP, the FO called for linear target on enemy convoy. After initial shot, adjustment came in and I was busying keying the adjustment into the HP41 calculator. After FFE, the FO called to check our firing data. It appears that instead of linear target, the shots landed in L shape. It was found that during one of the adjustment, I enter left 50 instead of right 50.
B) Was attached to another arty unit to manned their OP for their lima foxtrot. After settling down on the OP, the ex was carried on as planed. Then the FO called out on coordinate that caught my attention, that idiot FO was calling the coordinate of our OP location!!
C) DidnÂ’t happened to me but heard from my other battery guys. During one the battery live firing ex, one of the round went erratic and landed into the Johor Straits. WhatÂ’s more, some goon safety party who was on a boat cross the border and was detained by the Malaysia coast guards. Not a good day for that battery.
D) Happened during another FATEP, one of the battery was task for the fire mission. All went well until we heard someone shouting fanatically from one of the M113. The mortar man almost loaded the round with the percussion cap down first. -

EVEN IF IS DELTA TGT, HOW COULD THE BTY DATA SAME AS THE FDC DATA, UNLESS BTY ALSO HEARD WRONG FO's ORDER OR THE FDO WAS VERY FUCKING CONFIDENCE THAT HIS FIRING DATA WAS CORRECT INSTEAD OF THE BTY CP(THIS GO TO THE FDC SAFTY OFFICER). ANY WAY, THIS COULD HAPPEN USING THE 41C, IF SHARP CACULATOR,THE BTY WOULD NOT ABLE TO FIRE EVEN FDC INSIST THEIR DATA WAS CORRECT, CAUSE BTY PCS WOULD NOT GET THE RERSPECTIVE LINER & ELEVATION FROM THE CP, IT SIMPLE CAN NOT TALLY AT ALL, CAUSE ALL THE TMPC/TGPC IS PART OF THE PROGRAM IN THE SHARP INSTEAD OF THE HP41C.

[color=green]NO SUCH THING AS ERRATIC ROUND COULD LAND IN JOHOR. SAF IS VERY KAISU, ALL FIRING LOCATION WILL NOT HAVE ANY CHANGE AT ALL OUT OF THE RANGE SO SUCH. THE ONLY REASON IS EITHER WRONG FIRING DATA OR MOTAR SIGHT SET WRONG ELEVATION OR LINE AND MISS BY THE SAFTY OFFICER CHECK. THIS HAPPEN TO MY UNIT AS WELL. DURING 1 OF THE CASH ACTION, ROUND WAS OUT BY 3KM, LATER FOUND OUT THAT LINE WAS SET WRONGLY CAUSE THE BRO READ WRONGLY FROM THE COMPASS.[/color]

joined another unit for MUT and was given the appt as SP CQ.
we were in Tekong for ATEC, combat train was led by SP CSM with 4 of us behind.
on the 3rd nite, all vehicles were in the MT park. We were awoken by horns blaring away in the middle of the nite. Then we realised we are under attack.
All vehicles sped off except ours. It just refused to start. Panic station! Finally the driver managed to get it started and off we go.
By the time we are on the run, we have a 'simulated tank' (jeep with MG) behind us. The MG was firing away... this time sure declared dead... how can the tonner outrun the jeep??? Out of a sudden, the jeep gave up the chase. Phew.
We drove to a safe place and CSM told us that we are the only train to survive.
Then he told us a scary thing. The driver woke up, can't find his glasses, drove off with my CSM giving directions! -

Yup... lao jiao I am indeed. We later converted to Sharp during reservist. ROD many moons and years liao......
BTW, are they still using the Sharp? The keys keep jammed and sometimes I had to reset the calculator and re-enter the data again. You experienced that?
Yah, agreed that feature wish, Sharp is more intelligent with the TMPC/TGPC programmed, but the HP41 is more rugged and compact.
Regarding the incident, actually it was a delta target and I think CP did had a different firing data. But FDO insisted on FDC's data coz we hardly make mistakes. But sad to say that was one of the time that we did and screw up the mission.

Me also ROD many many moons. Is your camp beside the rail road or behind the 3rd guard?
As far as CP concern, HP41 would be the best, only need to provide no. 3 data as TMPC is calculated by the det commander themselve, as for sharp, CP need to provide all 6 det. line & elevation, time is not on our side.
No doubt by using sharp it help to reduce many forms & time but the set back is need to provide all det. firing data, worse is in old day, if Bty & FDC data not tally, decision could be make either use FDC or bty data but now to bad no firing data will be avaliable for all det. to lay the weapon. -
Then my camp is together with 41SAR next to 3rd guards. Real ulu place. That time need to walk almost an hr from main road to the camp if there is no shuttle bus. U from 21SA too?
