is it hard to get selected for cdo? and is it hard to pass the whatever thingy you got to pass to enter cdo training? and lastly, is it hard to grad and be a cdo?

my batch abt 250+ was enlisted (that was 11 yrs ago ),
only 132 passout after 1 year.

As for getting the beret, it's really a question of keeping up with the training and making sure you don't get downgraded.
Maybe one of the more recent members of the battalion could give you a description of how hard the training is these days. I believe the days of getting 500-plus FBO push-ups and 1400-plus scissors jumps are over, and of course the senior batches thought we had it easy. -

Heh heh. The tradition of BCT turnouts at Changi Beach is alive and well
, and while we didn't get GPMGs as alarm clocks, they gave us thunder flashes on 'special occasions' 
I think intense harassment is just part and parcel of Commando training, and is necessary for conditioning people to work in unexpected, high stress situations. I don't really see any way out of it, unless you want a less effective soldier, but maybe that's just me. -

Ah, turnouts - my platoon sergeant used to call for turnouts in the middle of the night, by striking a glass with a teaspoon. Can you imagine how paranoid we got at coffeshops on weekends?
Yeah, we griped a lot about the training at the time, but it did do us a fair bit of good, even if it increased the attrition rate. The 4 guys who later went over to SOF said found selection a breeze after our training.
My platoon sergeant was of the "more training and less buggeration" bent. That said, we still did get hammered a fair bit.
My God! 7 hours' sleep?! We were lucky if we got 3 during BMT, what with some real pricks of section commanders who shall remain unnamed. -
