Ah, turnouts - my platoon sergeant used to call for turnouts in the middle of the night, by striking a glass with a teaspoon. Can you imagine how paranoid we got at coffeshops on weekends?
Yeah, we griped a lot about the training at the time, but it did do us a fair bit of good, even if it increased the attrition rate. The 4 guys who later went over to SOF said found selection a breeze after our training.
My platoon sergeant was of the "more training and less buggeration" bent. That said, we still did get hammered a fair bit.
My God! 7 hours' sleep?!
We were lucky if we got 3 during BMT, what with some real pricks of section commanders who shall remain unnamed.
The cookhouse even got tv... recruits still got time tok and watch tv after meals..
I remember we can't even tok to much or even got time to sit down and chat during meals then.. Time like not enuff in bmt then...always rush rush rush, then get harass... abit lax kena turnout. Got "people" complain..next moment wait for turnout le.
I remember once we receive complain....then dat nite noone dare to really slp coz waitin for turnout only.....some even got their fbo ready...some wear slack to sleep jus in case.....haha
