External apperance aside, I'll much rather be in a tank that provides more protection then one that's nice looking. The flat, angular, welded turret of the Abrams and other western tanks is there for the reason that such a design is needed to maximse the protection of composite armour.Originally posted by Airborne Guards:Personally, i think that Russian tanks are beautiful. Although the interior sucks like hell, on the outside they still look good. In fact, monstrous tanks like the American M1 looks boxy and big. I would prefer the round and flat turret of Russian tanks. T80/variants and T90 are my favourite.Earlier models lke the T62, 54/5 may not look as nice. Anyway, the abandoned American M60A2 looks nice too. Unique i would say.
Not really, but it can be said to the be first Russian tank to be finally concerned with crew protection.Originally posted by tankee1981:Talking about Russian MBTs. There is this new MBT by the Russians called the Black Eagle or something(not sure of the name) I heard that its really good, maybe this tank will make the Russian MBT technology comparable to that of the Americans. Anyone got any info on this? There is also this Russian forward swept fighter. I think its designation is Mig 1.45 or something. I think it looks cool.![]()

I actually went inside a Russian sub before...part of some display thing where the owner bought it over from Soviet Union after the Cold War and turned it into an attraction. I cannot remember the designation, but it was one heck of a crammed...it was a diesel sub for sure.Originally posted by Viper52:The Russian oldies but goodies! Russian weapons in the local context are sadly under-rated. The key disaffection to Mindef probably is the inevitable logistical nightmare if ever they had to make a sudden new introduction of key weapons system from Russia/ex-Soviet into our arsenal.Originally posted by tankee1981:Actually i am very intrested in Russian weapons.
