Same here, i've nearly got myself into court martial. But good thing, it boils down to not that serious and that I ORDed so more heng.Originally posted by kopiosatu:i know that i myself have gotten into trouble which would be eligible for DB... but they didn't even give me any form of punishment, not even extras or confinement...
i guess it comes down to the individual, some officers get 'marked' by the higher authorities too
its not privilege. its more leeway tt comes wif ur jobscope and increased responsibility. and o cos wif tt a higher chance of making mistakes.Originally posted by SlowPoke:we have a nice acronym in the service that best explains this situation....
R.H.I.P (Rank Has Its Privileges)
i wont say its luck.. cos tt leaves things too haphazard. i think full knowledge of each situation is necessary. in the end if rules and law and its application is based on something as random as luck who would obey them?Originally posted by dragonstar:I think the issue about punishment is based more on luck than rank. In my NS days, there were at least two occassions whereby I (as a gun commander) could have been charged (one involving accident and one serious mishap during 155 live firing) and three other commanders of my battery were let off on various occassions (one involving accident and live firing, one involving accident and one involving live firing). In one of the above live firing incidents the battalion's RSM, a WOII (higher in rank than us) almost got charged; he was more severely reprimanded than any of us commanders.
