that was submitted by boeing ... probably as a psychological tactic ..... to squeeze Dassault's balls perhaps ... doesn't mean anything in itself really ...Originally posted by insouciant:In this case it isn't the SAF hinting, but the Pentagon informing Congress about possible sale.
As powerful as SAF is, I don't think they can get Pentagon to go through all that paperwork hassle for nothing.![]()

Hopefully the Rafale F3 will win...Originally posted by alert5:According to Flight International, BoeingÂ’s F-15T is the favourite to win Singapore's Next Generation Fighter competition.
SingaporeÂ’s Defence Science & Technology Agency has completed its evaluation of the F-15T and Rafale and is believed to be recommending the Boeing fighter.

True...Originally posted by archon1234:But the AH-64 is still the best and uncontestable choice when we made the purchase on our helio gunship. The south african copter is no way near the performance and reliability of the Longbow version of AH64Ds.
But coming to NGF, we need to be very careful in balancing the cost efficency and future performance enhanecment potential. As we know, we might be getting a new fighter 10-15 years down the road, so we have to save up a bit. But the technological roadmap alos pointed to another interesting development in aerial warfare: UCAV. The UCAV is cheap and deadly, but it would success in a battelfield if only the the UCAV operator has a superiority in ECCM and ECM warfare. What is critical in the NGF deal would be the ECM warfare technologies transfer / sharing / development package deal.
F15T maybe old, USAF is also retiring a sizable of old F15A/Bs. But USAF still holds the best ECCM/ECM technologies in the world. They had been very very relunctant on sharing info with others. But with the recent cosy ambient btw USN and RSN in the spartan program, I am quite sure we can get a good deal in terms of $$$ and know-how from states. Anyway, it is more useful to do our Uncle Sam a favour by supporting the F15T production line through 2010. Sg will benefits economically and technologically.
If rumours are true, we do not rely on the SLAM-ER for our long range missile needs.Originally posted by Delta 5:True...
But we should have requested for a genuine stand-off weapon like the
SLAM-ER missiles in the deal too...They can be used for attacking high priority targets and the JSOWs and JDAMs should suffice for the less well-defended targets.![]()
You mean the AGM-142 Have Nap as mentioned in Defending the Lion City?Originally posted by LazerLordz:If rumours are true, we do not rely on the SLAM-ER for our long range missile needs.
What rumours? What weopons? Can say here since they are only "rumours"... Bwahahahahaha....Originally posted by LazerLordz:If rumours are true, we do not rely on the SLAM-ER for our long range missile needs.
