So you're saying you know how to take cover without being shot at? Or does "not the one running around" mean you're a REMF?Originally posted by jacobs:? Why would i be shot at when i'm not the one running around?

Anyone heard of the MATADOR ? Apparently a LAW replacement. What is it actually ? Bofors AT-4/AT-8 ? If so the 68mm Armbrust would have given way to a 83/84 mm weapon. Wonder whether it's guided.....Originally posted by I-like-flings(m):ATEC?? what about coy support weapon???? 84 more die right. haha.. carry that stupid thing. haha
do i have MEN or do i have pussies? u think the men like to sit around a training shed, cold wet and miserable waiting for the rain to stop so we can go back to prone on the wet, muddy ground AFTER the rain stops???Originally posted by NathanG5:if u are a officers or specs..are u willing to risk your own men life n put them in unneccesary risk?
yes..u can die..but not them...
TSR will be cast out of the window when there was comes..for now its better to keep them..
wonder what's the max speed and range... with a 2000 kg payload, u can use it for "other stuff" as well...Originally posted by cavsg:on this week's issue of awst
Singapore also continues to work on its indigenous UAV. The system is envisioned as a 15-ton gross takeoff weight design, with a 40-meter wingspan, a 2,000kg. payload, and 50 kilowatts of power to drive sensors, says Singapore's chief defense scientist, Lui Pao Chuen. Two versions are being conceived of: an intelligence collector and an airborne early warning configuration. The system would exist in manned and unmanned versions. Singapore has been working with Scaled Composites to devise the system, which still hasn't flown, but industrial relationship may changed. Singapore is referring to the system as a low-altitude, long-enduring endurance, as compared to higher altitude satellites.
scaled usually produced a design very fast, from the way the article is phrased, seems like we got problems working with them. lalee talk many years already still design, something wrong lahOriginally posted by CX:wonder what's the max speed and range... with a 2000 kg payload, u can use it for "other stuff" as well...

forget it... this topic has digressed far enough. of course, i'm just happy that when on overseas exercise, there's no CAT 1cos bad weather overseas usually means that its so bad, that u gotta cancel... like typhoon season in some places for instance... had to sit through 5 days of rain, mud and cold waiting for a typhoon... but it never came
so we ended up doing the whole shit in the crummy weather.
THAT'S soldiering.

Ya, like the case of the 0.5 in HMG incident in Gedong recently...Originally posted by CX:safety risk very high when it rains meh? i frankly find it a little pussy to stop for cover at a training shed when it rains...
soldiers have to adapt to such conditions... its reallyvery different when it rains... visibility down, boots gets heavy, clothings sticks to your body, abrasion, etc etc...
and its something pple take for granted but u really gotta walk properly in the mud, especially if u're bashing... or u'll end up on your face a lot
the SAR21, the Squad Support Weapon, won't help us win any war if the pple using them aren't trained properly.
Can take it that Ranger training no regards for TSR in SAF ? Probably sign indemnity during application....Originally posted by wuming78:o cos we dun mean to say lightning wont happen during wars. wat we mean is is it necessary to take tt risk of being struck by lightning during peacetime training? would taking tt additional risk value add to the training? will we miss out anything in the training by not exposing troops to the risk of being struck by lightning during training?
rain and lightning comes together often but not always. i personally haf went thru training in the rain when cat 1 was not declared.
Sheesh....sounds like they want to contend against Global Hawk with this thing.....Originally posted by CX:wonder what's the max speed and range... with a 2000 kg payload, u can use it for "other stuff" as well...

a) i believe the TSR still applies to them, although well, due to their uniqueness they r prob given aloto autonomy and flexibility.. indemnity? dunno if they sign tt or not.. gotta ask one of them.Originally posted by panzerjager:2 separate things:
a) on topic of training safety...taking that SAF Ranger training for the sake of being the most real-to-war that soldiers can get in peacetime...is TSR thrown out the window for these guys. Or else they sign indemnity when they apply for Ranger course
b) on topic of real professional soldiering (and mercenaries)...anyone heard of local ppl / soldiers signing on with
the Foreign Legion ? It's an international merc organisation (in essence) paid for by French government for French interests....
Is it allowed for Sg-ian to do so (sign on merc force....for other governments or non-governments etc)
For b)....wat dat would mean is dat sg government is allowing its own citizen to work against itself in the event of direct action by Foreign Legion....is in effect working officially as a spy/sabotuer ...Originally posted by wuming78:a) i believe the TSR still applies to them, although well, due to their uniqueness they r prob given aloto autonomy and flexibility.. indemnity? dunno if they sign tt or not.. gotta ask one of them.
b) yup. i think its possible for local soldiers, in fact, anyone to apply for it.
well for tt matter tt applies to all countries - since the foreign legion, by rite, accepts applicants from any nations - not only singapore.Originally posted by panzerjager:For b)....wat dat would mean is dat sg government is allowing its own citizen to work against itself in the event of direct action by Foreign Legion....is in effect working officially as a spy/sabotuer ...
Da ge, ni shuo se mo? wo de england bu hao wor... If you take cover, how is it that you will get shot?Originally posted by Gedanken:So you're saying you know how to take cover without being shot at? Or does "not the one running around" mean you're a REMF?
In the former case, doesn't that defeat your original assertion that using live ammo is the best way of teaching men to take cover?
Your posted photo of the ST Aero supposedly developed MAV-1 - being serviced, although smaller in scale, seems to have some semblance with the BOEING UCAV X-45A in flightOriginally posted by cavsg:on this week's issue of awst

Additionally, Singapore's ST Aero has built a stealthy-looking, 80-kg UAV, the MAV-1. The system is slated to fly in the coming weeks, say company officials. The vehicle is a test asset aimed at creating a market for a larger reconnaissance vehicle. Flight testing of the UCAV-like design should run most of the year.

Didn't think you would - don't worry about it.Originally posted by jacobs:Just read the previous posts and replies. Ah.... What has using live ammo to do with the former? i don't get it.....
