nice of u to dodge the point. go to the previous page(pg 6), read my post b4 this, and clarify yourself.Originally posted by jacobs:Ah har, well, i know my limits. Frankly, it would be nice of you to explain some things. But then again, you rather not.
And why should I? You've already copped out by saying that you'd parroted someone else's idea, showing that you've got no commitment to it. On top of that, you go off on tangents of teaching, ethics and EQ, assuming respectively that I haven't done it, haven't thought through it and don't know anything about it, only to find that you've been outrun, outmaneuvered and outgunned. Put in some genuine intellectual effort and I might start taking you seriously.Originally posted by jacobs:Ah har, well, i know my limits. Frankly, it would be nice of you to explain some things. well, its hard to say unless we know the full specs of the weapon... now all we know is that it fires 5.56 and 40mm...
if the optics are good, if it incorporates a rangefinder, if we can perfect a timed fuse for the grenades to create airburst rounds, if it promises to be a local equivalent of the OICW, and of course, if all the fancy gizmos can withstand field conditions (no point having a fair-weathered weapon) then it could well be worth it to arm at least 2 men per section with it... well... two BIG men...
kinda funny to picture a skinny guy lugging it and huffing and puffing up the hill...
i still don't see how it can hold 4 x 40mm granades... the OICW uses 20mm...
First of all, the Pentagon has moved away from the OICW to the XM8, with the grenade launcher as optional.Originally posted by storywolf:The squad weapon will be a good weapon in a real war.
Unlike movies, which every grenade throw seem to kill everyone around, real-life is not so, the killing radius is rather small, if 20mm will make it worse, you don't want an lightly injuried enemy to shot you. The 40mm is the better choice for general troops which shooting is not that accurate.
The 40mm may be stack one after another (not in mag like rifle) with fuse behind each rounds, based on a new technology that came from a australian guy which US is interested also. This new techology allow rounds that can be stack in rows of many layers and and firing sequences all can be programmed and sync. Already many new smart weapons is already in testing stage using this new technology.
From the model i saw the nades were 1 behind another......much like the ammo in the G-11 i guess only thing is they dun drop the get pushed forward.Originally posted by CX:ah... so the vendetta has been resolved eh? cool... its safe to post again...
