Nah, the news casters/reporters would have been much more discrete in terms of reporting this incident so as not to compromise the operation[via revealing info they're not supposed to] right?

Where did you get your sources from? How did you find out they were taken to the plane's toilet and shot? There were passengers then and there. I don't think they would do that. -

Anyway, a terrorist is worth a lot more alive to us then dead, he is a valuable source of intelligence and killing him just to send out a message makes little sense.
