hi, i hear that this forum is much better for discussing about scale modellings so i kinda shift the topic over here from chit chat.. hope the mod dont mind
well, i like doing 1:35 AFV... i prefer doing german armour from WW2
anyone have any brands to recommend? shops? location etc..
i love dragon modelling ltd (DML), dragon produce the best kits(detailed) in my opinion and the price is cheaper than tamiya! the shop i get my stuff is at millenia walk called timemachine-studio..it deals mainly in dragon products.. action figures, kits etc... -
i frequent:
Marina square - second floor - (forgot the name) - further in after escalator - good place
the Orchard store - at Specialist shopping centre - third floor i think - been there since decades - when i was in pri school
Bugis junction - near the Sony centre - changed owner, now not so good but quite ok
Trumpeter getting quite agressive nowadays, good and very cheap, but they do fighters and ships
check them out. -

The orchard store, i find that it is abit small and doesnt have much variety (AFV) ..so.. hehe
and the last one at bugis..thats the LAST place i would go... the stuff there is EXPENSIVE! 10-20 bucks more than timemachine studio and the miniaturehobby -
Yupe miniture hobby n timemachine is the place to go. I also likes to built 1/35 armour but all modern and war 2 is fine with me n hey i will going to marine square 2 2day.
Current project on the desk isthe jap type1 SPG from the old tamiya range. -
I have a series of 1:25 tanks. All full interior. Unfortunately tamiya stopped producing them. I also have a few 1:35 tanks made by a korean company Acedamy, also full interior, 3 1:350 battleships, ie prince of wales, musashi and bismark and a couple of 1:32 planes and helis.

Lotsa Dragon model kits there.... frequent there during sec sch days... -
There's one more place call CentralHobbyPlus at centre point i think.. forgot at which shopping centre, u can try the website www.centralhobbyplus.com it mainly deals with italeri and Hasegewa

you guys should check out time-machine studio..the shop has a diorama of the vietnam war!
the shop deals mainly in dragon products...well, for those who havent try that brand yet..i suggest its time u try! Great kits! damn detailed!
but one drawback is, if you're new to modelling...well skip it.. cos ALL of dragon kits, the tank tracks are all individual ( abit tedious,but worth it..cos realistic ) and the difficulty in fixing the tanks gets a step higher cos of that -
The one at Suntec is very small and crampy but anyway it is set up by the boss of the shop at Tiong Bahru Plaza after he closed down another branch at IMM. The shop at TBP is much bigger and has more variety.
There is also one at lucky plaza, 2nd or third floor, cant remember. -
alright, i'll check out the shops at lucky plaza and tiong bahru plaza these few days...
anyway, what are your guys building now? i'm building a dragon kit, Panther A (late type) right now...one of those damn sexy tanks in WW2..
maybe after this, i'll get a sherman firefly VC or a king tiger

Well just completed the Jap Type 1 SPG mumm... the next one will most likely be the German PUMA sd.kfz.243/2.. Btw wat is ur camo for the panther?

panther will be painted in base coat of dunkelgelb.. still dunno what is the pattern...hmmm... maybe i finish the build first then think about it lor..
i always wanted to build a Puma..damn sexy vehicle...maybe next time...

Hobbypoint at Tiong Bahru Plaza is the place to go.Kits are cheaper compare to other hobby shops in sg.
I still prefer Miniature Hobby during their bugis junction days,good concept.Now Roy's hobby at Bugis is the last place i would go to.Too expensive

Ya agree with u man ... but the Bugis place has very nice displays of the models they've completed ... liked to go there to get some inspiration ...
anyone know where I can buy a good/reliable used air brush .. I used 2 do some modelling of tanks and aircraft ... have cmplted a pretty ok M1 Abrams, A-6 Intruder, F-14 in my school days .. thot of picking it up again now that I have some time on my hands -
Aulf i would recommend minituare hobby in marine square or hobbypoint.

yesterday went miniaturehobby, it's moving shop temporarily and is offering 20% discount on (most?) the kits. last day is 15 April.

My tastes are towards aircraft, in all scales (1/32 1/48 and 1/72). Modern, WWII, post-war etc are fine. My favourites haunts are
Hobby Focus - 2nd Flr, Far East Plaza (above Burger King)
Hobby Icon - Orchard Plaza, 3rd Flr.
Miniature Hobby - Marina Square, 3rd Floor (near Superbowl now but moving soon temporarily)
The rest I don't usually with because the prices are stiff, and IMO their attitudes leave a little to be desired. Particularly the one at Bugis.
