Kiloclass, Miniature Hobby at #03-105 (from 1st May) Marina Square also conducts classes. Not sure of the pricing, but I like the atmosphere and the way I've seen the classes being conducted there.Originally posted by KiloClass:can anyone tell me what are the "tools" that are needed to build these models ? , and how much do they cost ? . i've tried to build an F-4 but it turned out to be a piece of junk . if anyone can give tips for a newbie like me on modelling , you are very very welcomed to do that . i really want to learn this art . thanks

Suntec's branch is at 3rd floor, near the arcade... and very close to a shop dealing in health product ( cycling wheels, etc ) i think its osim, but i'm not sure.. the shop is infront of a big space where there is a children's playground there...Originally posted by black_hawk:Opps!!! I was refering the old Miniature hobby at Bugis junction. Hobby Point Boss is definitely still around. He started a branch somewhere in Suntec Can't find it though.

I think you should really invest in a compressor and airbrush if you are really into this hobby. An airbrush can do wonders from painting, shading and dust staining etc.All this techniques are very crucial if you want a realistic model.Originally posted by Prodigy:actually i wanted to get an airbrush... but i'm afraid of the steep learning curve of using it... looks difficult to me! and also heard some people complain about 'bad' airbrushes...
and i also dunno how to choose airbrush... whats single action and double action?? hmmm![]()
I guess most of us use liquid cement (tamiya extra thin type highly recomended at least for mi) for the building of these model. Airbrush costs around $100 to 200+ depends on wat u are getting. For fine and detail airbrushing i would recommend tamiya and gunze brand one (2 to 3mm).Originally posted by KiloClass:is there a special kind of adhesive that you ppl use to build these models ? or is it just plain contact glue ? how much does an airbrush cost ? where can i find an airbrush ?
THe cans are unable to gave a constant pressure n in the long term a compressor are able to gave a more value and saving if u are taking this hobby seriouslyOriginally posted by Prodigy:a compressor alone cost about a 100 bucks? how about getting those 'cans' to inject pressure into the brush?
maybe i'll get an airbrush in a month or so..
I suggest maybe you get the Tamiya spray-work air brush system set.It consist of a compressor and a double action trigger-type airbrush.Retail price is about SGD$199.Originally posted by Prodigy:a compressor alone cost about a 100 bucks? how about getting those 'cans' to inject pressure into the brush?

199 is considered a good deal right?Originally posted by dusterbuster:I suggest maybe you get the Tamiya spray-work air brush system set.It consist of a compressor and a double action trigger-type airbrush.Retail price is about SGD$199.![]()
Try any hobby shops that carry Tamiya products. They should have it in stock.Tamiya Item code is 74501.But be warn this compressor dosen't come with adaptor.you'll have to get one yourself(modified adaptor about $30).Originally posted by Prodigy:199 is considered a good deal right?
where can i get it with such good pricing?
any recommendations? thanks
Yes i'm currently using 2 types of compressor, both from Tamiya. One of them is the one i recommended to you while the other is the Hg air compressor which cost $299(comes without air-brush).Air brushes are relatively easy to use and clean, after a few practises you should be use to it.Originally posted by Prodigy:thanks dusterbuster!
found that particular airbrush right here

you using that airbrush currently? I hope these babies are easy to use
the black box thing is the compressor right? and you mentioned getting an adapter, do i get it at any hobby shops?
so basically you can only paint for 30 mins each day? then back to recharging? Whats the difference between the original adapter and modified one? beside being cheaper...can it last longer?Originally posted by dusterbuster:Yes i'm currently using 2 types of compressor, both from Tamiya. One of them is the one i recommended to you while the other is the Hg air compressor which cost $299(comes without air-brush).Air brushes are relatively easy to use and clean, after a few practises you should be use to it.
Tamiya compressors comes without adaptor, they want you to get the battery pack and charger which personally i think is a waste of money(charge for 1 day and battery use up within 30mins).The adaptor is the difficult part.It is not available in hobby shops( you can try asking them).I'm using a Newstar NA-3000 adaptor with re-modified wires.
Most modelers plastic cement for gluing parts together. I mostly use normal Tamiya cement as I find the bond of the super-thin stuff not strong enough.Originally posted by KiloClass:is there a special kind of adhesive that you ppl use to build these models ? or is it just plain contact glue ?
