Vocation: Pioneer 'S' ?

yo.. anyone knows wat vocation is Pioneer 'S' ? (at seletar camp)
Heard that its combat engineer.. If so, what type is it?

Anyway.. i was wondering.. when u say xiong.. as in within the engineering aspect or amongst all the other vocations?
P.S: Is it as bad as lets say... rifleman? *lol*

it doesnt matter if i tell u its more siong than this and less siong than tt rite? the fact of the matter is u r now a pioneer and u wont get to noe abt the others. so jus hold on and go thru it. im sure u wil look back and think its not tt bad after u haf gone thru it. -

i hope this is not classified info, but it is common knowledge that our "bridging" and "boatmen" pioneers is based in Seletar Camp.
So you will be one of those "first-in last-out" guys that specialize in river crossing.
During my time, there was rumour that bridging engineers got high risk of getting fingers chopped off because of the pieces of the bridge joined togther, so watch it! -
i am a bridging engineer..... of my time there, i have not heard or seen fingers got chopped off........ and no pioneer 'S' does not equal to bridging pioneer.

Don't worry about so much being a pioneer, its not as tough these days. Being posted to seletar means u have the possibilities of in the water bridging unit.
seletar also houses a guards unit and they also have infantry pioneer platoon. Infantry pioneer focus mainly on clearing obstacles and laying obstables. mostly sufficient for human to pass through only, not much of a heavy stuffs like bridging. Most of the time (i heard) infantry commanders don't know how to deploy infantry pioneers, so use them as labourers..
anyway, getting hands or fingers chopped off is in the past when manual bridge like MGB and bailey bridge is around. I heard of ppl having their fingers chopped off when they lay the top panel of the MGB cos its super heavy that it can do that. these bridges have been phased out and not likely that u'll touch them.
Just keep your fingers where they are and don't anyhow poke them into any holes that u see and u should be fine. -
actually bridging pioneers is quite fun. you learn many interesting stuff. due to mechanisation, its actually not very siong. they also have some classified stuff very interesting.
only bad thing is you always get your balls wet, sometime can remain like this for a few days. wet, dried, wet again, dried again, wet, dried, wet, dried........need lots of snake powder. -
During my time, Combat Engineer is the most super siong want. All sweat and no "prestige".
I remember i was in SAFINCOS Bravo, we are the SSL Company that will go support arms but we were the most siong company and our morale was damn low. Alpha was the most switch off company and very easy going and a lot of laughter. When Bravo finish our Runs and 5BX, the Alpha guys just wake up only!
Anyway posting orders came and nearly all the Bravo guys Kanna Arty and some lucky ones go SADA.
The Alpha guys mostly go to Combat Engineers. Suddenly their morale plunge!
Anyway, I got downgraded and postout before posting. Didn't complete my course. Left SAFINCOS as a PTE! -
now CE not bad mah. can get to go the coveted 39 sce leh.

Newbie here,
I need assistance to advice me how to claim a pen n a watch.
I was given a pen n certificate, but only got the cert, no good pen around. Who has kept it?? Also, every1 got a very good branded watch except me poor fellow. I was a good boy all these years, y I did I miss all those things?? Can any1 help and advice????

most of the time accidents happen when you are too shagged, important to always stay sharp.

I'm into my eight ict as a bridging pioneer and true it's damn shiong,but I'm always looking forward to my next in-camp training.Don't know why?Maybe because can meet up with my old buddies and not forgetting the mosquitoes and foot rots

actually engineers dont just do mines, they do many things like boobytrapping, demolition, bridging, fortification countermobility and anything under the sun or moon, wet or dry, and still need to fight like infantry if required. whatever things a soldier dont/cant do they call the engineers. pioneers are the ones always going in first (and get killed), thats why they are called "Pioneers", and last one to come back.
looking at it, if there is a river/sea in front of a Division, they cant cross means they cant cross. be it the Division wanting to advance or retreat, there's nothing they can do about it.
who they gonna call?
engineers are indeed very respectable pple. you should feel damn proud about it. esp when pple ask about your vocation, they always shake their heads and say "siong" when you reply "engineers"...... ego boosted. -
Totally agree with Kamenrider .Ever since i ROD in 94 until now,i still feel proud when i tell people about my vocation.
Should check out the engineers convoy when we go for exercises,really makes SAF Feel mighty. -
dusterbuster, u are right, try overtaking an engineer convoy and u are in for trouble... especially if its a DEB...
like what my instructors in CESC says, who has the biggest calibre gun in SAF? who has the heaviest tank in SAF? (ans: CEV) -

but very powerful. I heard it could actually blow a building into pieces.
This could actually be achieved by 105/120mm gun though less explosive.

You all duno know what is Pioneer 'S'.!!! They are now part of the CBRE group (39,36 and MRF).
FIY all combat engineers are know as pioneers (informally) -
