SAR21 - Operational Deployment status

  Is this classified info??
  
  Anyway, on the SAF career Ads and people involved in the Tekong hunt are mostly armed with SAR21.
  
  But if you see those RPs guarding the ferry terminal, are armed with M16.
  
  Just curious, what is the deployment status of this new rifle? I believe BMT still use M16 but are all the active units using SAR21?

  they are slowing phasing in the sar and phasing out the m16, starting with the active units.

  Hi there ... juz joined the from not long ...
  juz been to MINDEF the other day ... thot u shld noe that all the guard and sentrys there use the SAR .. and man ... you shld have no trouble spotting them coz they are all over the place ... talk abt high security ...

  I was juz wondering..where is MINDEF? Is it the same as SAFTI MI?

  mindef is located at bt gombak.

  Yea slowing phasing in liao.....mostly active and reservist units getting them....i'm guessing the infantry getting them 1st.....infantry as in footsoldiers....include guards and such...I believe BMT will be the last place to get it....Since the M16 provides good training in the use of an iron sight and how to zero a weapon.....even if the SAR21 is used in BMT i have a feeling the M16 will still be used....

  been there inside....
  when in pri sch, took mindef route from hillview to bt panjang...
  Bus number 177 travels to MINDEF from bt batok int.
  MINDEF is considered to be in Bt Gombak area. Been studying 4 years opposite mindef.

  Slowly phasing in. But I think they give top priority to those "visible" units like guarding airport and peace-keeping troops.

  kept as spares? like what they did to the 106mm guns? byt then again considering the situation these days,arm heist in thailand, malaysia, i guess it's better we melt them down....
