Ship is confirmed Kitty Hawk. I was on the Nimitz as well, and heres a link to an online log of the Nimitz in SingaporeOriginally posted by Arnhem:I had a chance to visit the Nimitz when she was on her way home from the Gulf last year, we had a little 2 hour tour conducted by no less than the Air Boss himself, will try to see if I can still find the pictures. Words fail me if I were to try to describe the experience, kinda like all your wet dreams come true at the same time LOL.
I believe she was on some kind of Command Post mission elsewhere before coming here, a sighting report I got indicated there were no aircraft on board.Originally posted by cavsg:USS Boxer was here recently also
A Ticonderoga cruiser is sighted with Kittyhawk, but can't remembers it's pennant number... anybody knows what's tt visible rectangular shaped thingy on the superstructure below the bridge on the right side??Originally posted by Arena:
She should either be CG-62 (Chancellorville) or 63 (Cowpens) out of Yokosuka if they're still homeported there.Originally posted by Arena:A Ticonderoga cruiser is sighted with Kittyhawk, but can't remembers it's pennant number... anybody knows what's tt visible rectangular shaped thingy on the superstructure below the bridge on the right side??
I second that. It is one of the 4 SPY phase array on the ship. One at the front of the fore superstructure, 1 each on the port and starboard side of the fore superstructure and I more at the aft superstructureOriginally posted by Arnhem:She should either be CG-62 (Chancellorville) or 63 (Cowpens) out of Yokosuka if they're still homeported there.
the rectangular shaped thingy visible on the superstructure is part of the phased array that makes up the Aegis system IIRC. Anyone can confirm
