I believe it is a purchase of 50 more missiles rather than an Upgrade. The previous purchase was for AIm-120C2. This latest batch has the extended range.Originally posted by gary1910:New buys or upgrade of our AIM-120 missiles?
I tot we 100 of these, and yet only upgrade half of them.
The 100 missiles have been transfered from Guam to SG last year.Originally posted by tankee1981:Is it true that these air to air missiles are stored in the US only to be released to us should our regional countries acquire missiles with similar capability? This is despite the fact that we have already paid for them. Or did i made a mistake and mistook the them for another type of missiles from the US?![]()

Is it true that these air to air missiles are stored in the US only to be released to us should our regional countries acquire missiles with similar capability? This is despite the fact that we have already paid for them. Or did i made a mistake and mistook the them for another type of missiles from the US?It makes me cough blood everytime I am told our AMRAAM missiles are still in the US. Glad to have them back.
