In the battlefield,a good commander means a leader who can lead his men and get the best out of them.It also means a leader who knows what he is doing and yr life can be entrusted to his command! Who do u think is the best military commander in the world history!
For me,there is no substitute for Erwin Rommel Field Marshal of Germany.His brilliant military tatics and command will clearly display in the afica korps of WWII.His ever presence in the front line of battlefield inspire his men to do their best! The respect and dignity he provide to the POW,even make him a poular figure among his foe! Such personality is the calibre to make a true commander in the battlefield!

the moment i saw this toipc, Erwin Rommel popped into my mind. din expect u to choose him too!
but a notable commander whom i admire a lot, though not strictly speaking military, is Sir John de Hawkwood, commander of the famed White Company, back in the 14th centuary. -

Hehehe, my fav military commander is none other than General George Patton. I believe Rommel and Patton got one thing in common. They are always up front watching the combat.
I think Patton is a better commander than Bradley and Ike. Ike is unblooded even though he's the chief of US army and finally president. -
This question needs to be narrowed down alot......
Like give us a time period to choose....after all it is hard to judge between the armies of Macdon during Alexender's time....compared to the Roman army during Trajan's time......and then the Mongols...and the Chinese armies....
We also have Napleon's army..the Prussians blah blah blah so how do u wanna compare? -
