WuMing i totally agree with u...Originally posted by wuming78:first, remember - having a liking for stuff related to the military does not mean the military is a suitable working environment for u. there r other factors to consider, e.g. if u r not one who likes regiments, and clearly defined and clearly visible hierarchy it is prob not your cup of soup. also, consider ur own skill sets too. not sure if they do career counselling in school. perhaps u may wanna seek ur teachers' advise.
If you want to "play with small arms", the best vocation will be either Armament Specialist or MEO(Military Engineering Officer). But please bear in mind, these jobs don't allow for much scope for mistakes either as we deal with armament systems maintenance which the Army needs vitally.Trust me, when you work day in day out repairing small arms, you get sick of the sight of it.Take a breather, look around.Do you realise what you really wanna do in life?If you do, good. But signing on is no small decision. You have to be prepared to shave off 5-10 yrs of your life and submit to regimental discipline.Go consider both sides of the coin before you commit..you're only 17 ?(I assume the 87 in your nick is your DOB).Just my thoughts ya..PM if you got any queries regarding those vocations.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Me from NCC Land.Central District.Am average in studies, but very according to my friends, and teachers they say tt I'm a Military Freak.Anyway, wat's this computer test thingy?I heard of it but dunnoe wat it is.Can sumone elaborate and give an example. And I wanna be in Guards coz I wanna chiong suan. Also, can anyone tell me a unit where you get to play with all sorts of small arms?
shouldnt put it in negative light mah. its up to him to judge on tt.Originally posted by LazerLordz:You have to be prepared to shave off 5-10 yrs of your life and submit to regimental discipline.

getting a place does not guarantee the outcome. so u are considered no different from ur peers who haf achieved the same highest standard attained.Originally posted by BMEngineer:I am also hoping to get into OCS too. If I sort of got a place in Uni.,will my chances of going into OCS be higher?

i understand bro..i understand how u feel...Originally posted by wuming78:its never too young to think about one's career. o cos its important to concentrate on the important things at hand too. but its also worth it to think about what one wants to do in life, one's interests, and find out about the careers that are interesting. i think so cos i think i did not think about all these till it was too late for me, so now i am suffering the consequence in "wasted time".

anyway if tt is ur wish, u can either sign on as an officer b4 u enlist, or get to ocs den sign on.
depends on how certain u r of ur desire i guess. my advise is to find out more about wat u intend to go into first - the vocation, the work, the env, etc...
