I am just speculating here, as I am not from arty too, so those from arty or anyone with better info are welcome to comment.
[b]Arty assets of SAF
(I)Mortars
1) 60/81mm mortar :
Short range ,man portable Infantry Bn's arty .
(Not sure abt 60mm, but I believe it has been phased out from infantry unit long time ago.)
2) 120mm SP mortar on M113 chasis: Max Range 13km with rocket assisted ammo, Armour Bn/Bde's arty.
3) 120mm SRAMS which has low recoil and high firing rate that could be mounted on a light weight veh like Bronco.
Not sure whether SAF has adopted this, but if they do , it will be most probably replaced the older 120mm SP on M113.
4) 160mm towed heavy mortar believe to be phased out .
(II)155mm Howitzer:
Towed
5) FH88 39 cal : Max range 30km
6) FH2000 52 cal : Max range 40km
7) M71S 39 cal are believed to be phased out.
Above arty type are meant for Bde/Div level arty for the 3 CAD.
155mm SPH
8 ) Primus 39 cal SPH :Tracked, fully armoured, max range 30km.
Rumour to be meant for the fully mechanised Bde/Div ???
(III) Rapid Deployable Arty
9) Giat LG1 105mm gun : Air portable using a medium helo like Super Puma. Max range 18.1km.
Becos of the air portability, they are meant to support our RDF Div.
10) LWSPH 39 cal 155mm : Air portable using a minimum a heavy helo like Chinook. Max range 30km.
Eventhough it weight only 7 tonnes , but it is not as portable as the LG-1.
If SAF going to adopt this weapon, iI believe it is most probably to complement the LG-1 rather replacing them for support for the RDF Div.
My two cents worth.

Should be :-Originally posted by Slee981:Just some clarifications to your doubts...
Infantry Bn - 120mm Motar Platoon (towed)
Armour Bn - 120mm Motar Platoon (on M113 Chasis)
Brigade - No estab, subjected to Division Commander's planning & arrangement
Divison - 02 x 155mm Bn (01 x FH88 Bn & 01 x FH2000 Bn)
As for M71s, it is still in service...
120mm Motar is a short range indirect weapon system, the max range is around 6.5km. (never heard of rocket assisted ammo, pls correct me if I am wrong)

Not refer to other country.Originally posted by Johnston:Wait a minute......
So..... we're talking about 120mm mortars providing fire support for the BRIGADE, while 105mm guns provide fire support for a DIVISION?
Then where do the 155mm guns go? Army level?
Carrying the train of thought to the ultimate level, what about 203mm howitzers, 300mm MLRS, and Naval gunfire?
Country level? Theater?
Im no Arty Offr, but it doesn't sound logical.
What does this mean?
FH & M71 can not be LWSPH. M71 not the M71S already weight 9T do not talk about the FH series
Hi... Can I clarify on your source on the Brigade Estab?? Artillery has no longer hold any Motars as they have been decommissioned and hand over to the Manoeuvre Forces. Hence there is no more 120mm Motar Bn... Secondly, I do not remember seeing or hearing any "rocket assisted ammo" for Motars.Originally posted by seachfun:Should be :-
Infantry Rig - 120mm Light Motar Platoon (towed)
Armour Rig - 120mm Light Motar Platoon (in M113)
Brigade - 120mm Standard Tow Motar BN organic to Infrantry or 120mm Light Motar SP BN (in M113) to Armour brigade. Can be subjected to Arty div command.
Divison - 02 x 155mm Bn or 105mm for RDD.
Both Motar & Gun do have rocket assisted ammo for extend range but it will shorten the barrel live.

Below is the Brochure for the STK's 120mm SRAMS, I believe 9km is for ER round and 13km for the rocket assisted round.Originally posted by Slee981:Hi... Is not the correct trail for a towed howitzer such as the FH-77 or G5 a Spilt trail howitzer? Now, i've been away too long and not being keeping current.Originally posted by seachfun:M71S semi SP gun modified from the tow verson M71. M71 before adding those body for it to be semi SP already 9000kg, as such it can't belong to LWSPH grade. FH serie even more heavy due to the long barrel etc... than the M71S.
Me juz converted to Past tense... M71s is still in use... Fire it once in Taiwan..Originally posted by Johnston:Well! So your from Artillery. Present or past tense?
M71 *might* still be in service, but i sure didn't see any of those babies around a certain camp. SOAY had one on display, though.
For your eyes only. In reality, it also means "for the person who handles it too"Originally posted by foga:classified infor.for ur eyes only
the actual deployment for the 105mm light guns are for the 21-gun salute during the annual national day parade.

AH!
Did you get the EZ-Link card? That's absolutely killer.
It beats any civilian EZ-link card all hollow.
Well, i don't know. I only ever saw M71s at the gun garage. Looked like FH-88 lite to my recruit eyes then. Later only then did i know what the hell it was.
Psst, what unit? Which mono intake?

I believe....Originally posted by gary1910:For future acqusition, I think we should purchase item 4 , the 120mm SRAMS offer higher rate of fire and better FCS to replace our current 120mm SP.
Another acquistion should be a modern MLRS with GPS guidance for long range precision targeting to counter the MY's A2 and in line with our future 3G army.
