What kind of edged weapon did you bring? A K bar or one of those steak knives sold on TV which can cut through virtually anything?Originally posted by HENG@:yeah agree. a good knife is what's important. i brought my own knife in even for BMT, and i had on several occasions lent other combat knives i own to friends for overseas ex, CST cse and other really rough courses.
toking abt knife..if u go for the MG Course at SIW..one of the warrant there have 7 different kind of parang or knife on his SBO..Originally posted by ChineseJunk:What kind of edged weapon did you bring? A K bar or one of those steak knives sold on TV which can cut through virtually anything?
I know of someone who brought an AK-47 bayonet for NS.
My choice is a kukri. I'd rather use this rather than the stupid bayonet fighting action stances. But got problem attaching the weapon to the SBO liao.
they only provide u with a stainless steel jack knife last time..now they provide u with a swiss army knife..wat can that small knife do?Originally posted by Jazzswing:Is it legal to bring your own weapons into NS? Won't the officers scream or something?
You mean he carries all 7 at the same time? Who is he man, Edward Scissorhand? Should make him point man when going on a jungle yomp so he can clear a route through the foliage.Originally posted by NathanG5:toking abt knife..if u go for the MG Course at SIW..one of the warrant there have 7 different kind of parang or knife on his SBO..

I never brought my kukri to camp cos I reckoned someone might try to steal it. The AK-47 bayonet fella was a NSF officer, a military policeman. ORDed liao.
Veering off topic but anyone into axes? They're wicked, these things. When I was in school, I saw the scouts participate in a log chopping contest. Slashed and chopped so furiously that one axe head flew off and nearly hit the crowd.

Mr Heng, whoever you are.Originally posted by HENG@:well he's been asking questions like that for a long time. garang but hasn't seen the real thing yet... wait till he go BMT, clean rifle, curse n swear, then he will understand.![]()

I have already enlisted, done my time and come out.
I ORDed this march.
I dare say i know more than the average "heck care" rifleman.
I actively read up on these issues and from time to time meet up with my old friend to discuss these.
I was the author of a thread the same like this on the MINDEF forums, and we batted the subject around like so. The "more weapon to clean" line was not spouted by me, but by someone else.
You may want to look at the Military Technology section in the Forum, if you are in NS. Which, i should add, was started after i suggested it to a moderator.
We've crossed swords before on MilTech, and we came out about even.
I brought a CRKT Crawford Kasper Tatical Folder, a SOG SEAL Pup, SOG NW Ranger, SOG Pentagon Elite II and a Victorinox Military(which at that time i might add, was a prototype undergoing military trials with the dutch military, and certainly not for sale to public. i somehow managed to get my hands on one)Originally posted by ChineseJunk:What kind of edged weapon did you bring?
