Of course, we have lots of opinion. But let's face it, it is in people's nature to buy the "LATEST THING THAT CAN BEAT EVERYTHING ELSE".
We believe if we bought the best equipment, we'd have the best army around. Yes, theoretically. But where does the money come from?
We are not suited to command (or did not want to). That's why the majority of us served our term and got out.
The people in MINDEF have clearer heads than us, that's why they can plan these things. (And that's why they get paid huge amounts of $$$)
. If they believe that the SPH and upcoming projects are enough, it's enough.
We're not on any commitee that decides what is right for the SAF.
What we believe is right for the SAF, is not what they believe. And what they believe goes.

That is the point of having a forum right?
We are of course not the decision maker to decide what the SAF should have or should not have, if there is one here, he/she will most probably not voice out their opinion here.
So if you suggesting that all of us here not to discuss abt any future acquisition, or even voice out what is our opinion on future acquisition etc. Then this forum will be very boring and may as well be shut down afterall this Military Nuts forum , we are here to talk anything related to the military!!!!

Taxes lor...raise indirect taxes through introduction of all those fancy 3-letter acronyms that represent some form of taxation lor...and suppress local wages at the same time through the National Wage Council. Or so you think that they have clearer heads than us. This is blind faith...I think the better way to put it is that the majority of us have clearer heads than the people in MINDEF, so that's why we didn't stick around. Unless of cos', you are making a conscious decision to stay on due to personal choices...

Sure...they are in charge. But we have to voice our opinions, ideas, and thoughts. We may not sit on any committee, but that should not prevent us from discussing defence issues that make up the raison d'etre of this board.

What we believe may not be what they believe. But what they use to fulfil their beliefs (i.e. tax money) is of concern to us... -

mindef has some of the most muddled and messed up people. they don't know jack about that they are doing. when things go wrong, its because they have been turning deaf ears to warning signs. a good example is tekong last year... the 2SG... u seriously believe they do not know about the dunking when everyone else knows about it? some of them probably even went thru it.

Clear heads in Mindef command? I'm not too sure about that but there are plenty of issues in the SAF that could easily be improved with little, or even saving cost but remain undone thanks to their "clear" heads and tons of red tape.
If anything, many of these "clear" heads seem fustratingly detached, rigid, and more interested in keeping things the way they are and setting up wayang shows, completely lost from the realities of keeping the front line operationally optimal to really know what is going on, and what's really needed. -

It sounds like a Pro-SAF comments to me.
I feel that everyone has a part in defending Singapore, and that is why we have NS rite? However since we have a part in defending Singapore, we should also know what the SAF is doing. We clvilians would definately not want to see more of the accidents (like last year particularly) to occur.
