Frankly, does it really matter who gets the Best Combat Unit (BCU)and how they get it? In my opinion, beside getting mentioned in Pioneer magazine and local newspaper, it just mean contingent marching duty during National Day Parade (i.e. loads of burnt weekend and ass chewing from the parade Regimental Sergeant Major).
To me, I believe in being the quiet professionals. Keep the mouth shut and do what I am supposed to do. To get the BCU, is to get noticed and that means attracting the attention of our potential adversaries. This translate to the possibility of enemy getting information of that unit and engaging with heavier armed enemy troops in the event that war breaks out.
What's the point in rebutting each other to kingdom come over this issue? It is his/her goddam given right to BITCH about how things are and how things aren't done for the DAMN BCU award. As long as you know that you put in your best in carrying out your duty and not letting your buddies beside you down, that is enough.
Yes, being a CDO entails SHITLOADs of hardwork, but bear in mind that other combat vocations, although less glamourous also put in equal if not more effort in carrying out their training. Pride is a dangerous thing. To be proud that one dons the beret of the elite is one thing, but to think that you are the best is a dangerous move.
