x2. The chief clerk bit is sama sama. Dunno why chief clerks behave like this, like everyday PMS...Originally posted by vleelee:when I was a clerk for my last few months of NS, I kana posted to ARTC. Whew ... it was an experience few would want to live through again ...
- got to learn to use harvard graphics, word star, word perfect 4.1, and lotus 123 - all in 1 day .... and Dos5.0 for good measure
- got to learn how to fix and repair dot matrix printers on your own ... I hate Epson printers for life
- got to learn tto use the typewriter and carbon papers - in 1/2 day ... good for typing resignation letters in later life
- got introduced to the paper shredder, fax and photocopier ... and vowed never to be reborn as one of these eqpt. Imagine ... everything is at least 3 copies - regardless of volume, and the shredding after that.
- got intro to the chief clerk ... and found out 1st hand why women in power are bitches, regardless of age and child bearing. esp women who has nothing better to do with their time.
- got intro to the MTO and QM - and made good friends with them. very important.
- got intro to QM NCO and storeman ... and found out the importance of bribes
- got to learn the trick of attending master parade, getting the toilet and office cleaned and breakfast prepared for my officers ... all at the same time. (incidentally, all PAs and head clerks can perform multi-tasking faster than any 64bit hyper threading processor in the market now)
- got to fill in the shoes of shooters for P226 competition when my camp had more lobos than shooters
- found out my camp had more AR15s than human bodies
- got to learn how to pour beer nicely out of a can with minimal forth for officers in the officers' mess
- got to know Yishun area very well for area recce and night despatch duties ... esp hawker centres
- got to learn how siong doing a dri-clad can be
- got to learn how are the faggorts and confess cases and stay far far away from them
- got to learn that there are faggort officers also ... hmmm...
- got to learn that the camp has no bunks and beds and no matter how late you work until (12mn to 2ams are quite common), you'll still have to walk 45 mins to the main gate and get a cab home at your own expense
- got to learn that during quarterly closing, you can operate 2 PCs and 2 printers at the same time and use up to 75 reams of paper in 2 days ... I swear to you ... I hate the sound of dot matrix Epson printers for life
- get to learn that all officers dying to be promoted while stuck in a lobo camp are ultra paranoid
- get to learn that reservists that earn more than $750/day working outside is recalled back to do ICT as a GP car driver. We got free meals and drinks for lunch and dinner for 2 whole days because of area recce ... and he asked his own personal driver to do the recce for us some more !!
- get to learn that all PAs and Head Clerks rushing to complete a project can perform so fast that the officers' decisions are slower than our processing speed ... anticipation is the key
- got to learn that when you hear a voice on the phone "Hello ... this is Colonel xxx ... I want to talk to your Colonel xxx" ... for some reason ... you be thinking "Colonel so what".
- got to learn that Chief of Army pisses in the same loo as you, next to you in the urinal cubicle ... after that ... COA so what
- got to see Tony Tan as Minister of Defense walking around your office ... and then after that ... Min of Def so what (incidentally his hair style at that time really looked like one of the gremlins ... the white streak)
- got to learn that when you got excess budget to spend at the end of fiscal year, its really hard to think of what to buy with 1.3 million dollars. In then end, we spent 1.4mil on clothes, building upgrades, painting, stores, eqpt, what ever whatever ... processed 100 odd work orders to contractors in 1 week !!
Life as Clerk ... depends lah. Esp for someone who got downgraded in the last few months of NS, I told myself ... if not for the nit picking and politicking and what ever nonsense ... MinDef would be a really good place to work in

mental stress can break a person
personally witness a Training Wing clerk who got hay wired because of work stress that 1 fine morning, he (dun know how) climbed to the roof top and started singing the National Anthem.
A few of the officers had to coax him down ... he lived, and got posted out to The Pointer, the magazine division
poor case ... damn good grades in A levels some more
and then there are attitude cases. there was this clerk that was so opposed to his clerk work that he purposely freigned MCs and got into fights. Even when the CO posted him to Officers' Mess as a waiter, he still rebelled. I think he was charged and got posted to 2 PDF (where its more siong !!)

The most lagi lobo camp, is NCC, bloody hell I went there to help train NCC for a few days, super easy to train as the teachers were there will help make file rank, march, send them to eat... all I did was just lecture on weaponary. I looked at the NS guy posted there, asked him what does he do when there are no NCC cadets to train, he said he and his PC seldom books into camp! Btw, NCC training is only a few times in a year! I was scratching my head, did they even serve NS like that?![]()
i went to SAFTI MI once on dispatch, and the clerks were playing CS on the office networks.Originally posted by larrenV2.003:I only get to surf the net in camp for 1 hour only...like that guy's case mentioned above.....whoa damn freaking lobo.
