hmmm and at my side we were just talking about a crash in 1994...
next thing we knew, this was on the news. -
seems that the spate of bad luck is still haunting saf... since july last year..

I think chance of finding the pilot is quite slim.With present high-tech equipment.It shouldn't take them so long to find the pilot if notthing happens to him! By the way,they crashed pilot also have a lot of signal equipment with him and in the ejection seat to contact any SAR plane searching for him.

Ignore them, I'd rather we show that we are above that. -
Let them laugh, at least it shows that we are training pilots to do night low-level penetration flying which is extremely riskly. When time for action at night next time, at least we have learn much more and learn from mistake also. Better than those who laugh have to learn from scratch. -

I think our safety record is exemplary as compare to the RMAF.
We have larger qty of a/c as well as higher flying hours per pilot as compare to them & yet they have quite a high number of losses for the last few years.
I think they have at least two crashes for their Mig29, one Hornet and also some number of Hawk too.
I think their old Nuri also have quite a bad record too.
Anyone here keep record abt their losses?
Anyway a/c crashes which involve lost of lives are all tragedy whether from RSAF or RMAF, and I hope they could find the pilot asap. -
Well, the reality of military aviation is, there are very real risks involved and no matter how much we try to reduce them, things like this will happen, you can never achieve a zero accident rate, and the incident, I suspect, is more of the odds catching up with the RSAF rather then any real operational deficency on their part.

SINGAPORE : A Republic of Singapore Air Force F-16C fighter jet is confirmed to have crashed after going missing during a night training flight in the United States, a statement from Singapore's Defence Ministry has said.
The status of the RSAF pilot is still unknown, and a search and rescue effort is still in progress to locate him, it said.
The fighter, which was part of a formation of three aircraft, took off on Thursday at 11.40 am, Singapore time from Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.
It crashed about 90 nautical miles south of the base in the Barry M Goldwater Range at about 12.40 pm on Thursday, Singapore time (9.40 pm on Wednesday, Arizona time).
MINDEF said communication with the aircraft was lost about 45 minutes into the flight.
MINDEF has not revealed the identity of the pilot.
"(The search is) still ongoing and we still do not have the status of the pilot. The good thing is now we have daylight to help us search. There are our people on the ground now, on their way to the crash site, and airborne they've had helicopters since the crash happened last night," US Master Sergeant Alan Lewis told Channel NewsAsia by phone.
"(The terrain is) very rough, very rocky; a lot of cactus things like that nature, and very distant from many improved services such as paved roads, things of that nature."
MINDEF will be conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
The F-16 was assigned to the 56th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base as part of the RSAF's Peace Carvin II detachment there. - CNA -

RSAF PILOT DID NOT SURVIVE CRASH
The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) pilot who was involved in the F-16C fighter aircraft crash reported earlier did not survive the crash.
The pilot was LTA Loo Kwang Han, 25 years old. He graduated from Victoria Junior College in 1997 and joined the RSAF in Jun 1998. He obtained his pilot wings in Jul 2001 and became an F-16 pilot in Jan 2003.
MINDEF and the RSAF extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late LTA Loo Kwang Han. -
sad to say but I was expecting this news, usually the pilot is found alive immediately after the crash. If I'm not wrong, this is the 1st fatal accident in 10 years, the last was the puma in roc.
Not a bad record for rsaf, they were operating for 5 to 6 years without a crash from 1994. -

Well, actually these are media reports... when I was in NS, my CQ died in 1.5tonner in ROC while supplying food and water to the check pts. There are several cases whereby, it does'nt warrant a media report and is not reported. -
