It's more of a qualification than a force.Originally posted by ZermanAUG3:Since Pathfinders are an elite force, I dont think they would freely discussed their mode of operations and they method of training..
Hello Gedanken, I am a (NS) Pathfinder since 98, still active and long way to go, not like LRRP only go for 6 years. We are the oni one outside CDO that were trained in Pathfinder in CTW in 97.Originally posted by Gedanken:It's more of a qualification than a force.
LRRP here - what about you, Joshua?
Apologies accepted.Originally posted by ZermanAUG3:My apologies, Pathfinders are more as an elite unit. MAF have Pathfinders or Pandura as they called here for the 10th Brigade. Pathfinders are more than just soldiers using different gadgets and weapons. These guys, in a group usually of4 men, would skydive from high altitude, in hostile territories, and establish an LZ and protect it at all cost. So, I reckon their training is close to special forces training.
Josh, there weren't any non-CDO Pathfinders in my day - that shows how old I am!Originally posted by Joshua1975:Hello Gedanken, I am a (NS) Pathfinder since 98, still active and long way to go, not like LRRP only go for 6 years. Nice to see your posting here. You still in the force? We may have been to the same Ex b4.
Any OPS experiences to share here? Types of problems face during the OPS? Any close encounter. If not Ex. will be find as well.
I know because of sensitivity, you need not be too technical. I think I know what you want to say.

Nah, my LRRP days were pretty uneventful, apart from sitting around in Brunei spying on a colonel and two majors poking about the bushes for an M16 that an OCS cadet lost.

Ya talking abt your time that there ain any non-CDO PF around I think not so. I think my RSM is US PF trained or that is another WO. My RSM is US Ranger train and I oni saw his Air Assault, Air born, but PF badge can't remember. Anyway during than the GDS unit or i should say the air side is not ready for such OPS yet. When it is time they get us over to CDO CTW for the training one reason is cut cost. No badge for us than. I heard the design is out waiting for approval I think.Talking abt the air group... the fix wing gp
most of the time it just a disappointment. Loads never land on sport not even within the DZ buffer but on trees

i'm lrrp. we done our company operational ex in thailand during our 1st in-camp back in 97.
during that time we also had a combine ex with the thai army sf.
at first they just look at us as boys from a comfortable city who's not capable of performing ops.
but eventually we prove to them our capabalities and had earn their respect.
During my ex in Thailand in 1992, the Thai SF boys said we were crazy for walking for the distances that we covered. I suppose we could take that as a compliment!Originally posted by lion02:i'm lrrp. we done our company operational ex in thailand during our 1st in-camp back in 97.

talking about the walking distance, at first we're not used to the hot weather there, and we're slow in the day, and they're laughing at us.Originally posted by Gedanken:During my ex in Thailand in 1992, the Thai SF boys said we were crazy for walking for the distances that we covered. on spot or not doesn't matter, but it went out of DZ not even within the buffer zone
3 method in all and 2 excute by ground and 1 by computer on wing, so where is the navigator in this picture now? you sure what you are talking not?
If you are trying to tell where the problem come from, sure it not from the navigator, if he is wrong you will not see the bird at all![]()

LRRP: Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol
LRP: Long Range Patrol
Strike: Commando company designated for assault function
Essentially, LRP and LRRP are the same. Their primary function is to provide reconnaissance for G2, not often used as assault element.
