heheh, anyone heard of the experiments to use zeppelins as flying aircraft carriers by the US navy some decades ago? scrapped in the end, by still interesting... too bad though, the trap system used to retrieve the aircraft would never work with jet proppelled aircraft... but that would be worth considering if we wanna go back to WWII planes! -

just consider the amount of SAMs targeting us..it would be fine if it was like 120 years ago. we can pack chain guns together like those used in the crimean war on the air ship..dun forget

The only way is to protect the airship with force field or use a mega type of AIR Carrier which is some sort like a helicopter + VTOL
stuffs and the flight deck also might be very unsteady in the air
due to air turbulences etc...
ive seen a design of it in spider man book..hehe if singapore got ar..
den u will see a new invention called...anti aircraft nukes.. -

macross nice... but bulky....
YUKIKAZE is sleek, fast and deadly... looks like the russian SU-43.
but both type of planes needs tons of maintainace.... i prefer the following super ORGANIC battleship...
since its organic, it heals itself, no need repair, a single ship packs enough firepower to vaporise the US 7th fleet in 5 minutes....
worst of all... you can mass produce them like mosquitos in summer... by the billions of ships without much resources, no need factories and machines or manpower to build them... they just breed like frogs!
and when they came across small enemy fighters... the mothership would just launch hundreds of smaller organic fighters like baby spiders on the back of a mother spider...
and guess what... it does looks like a spider!!

of course.. since the shadows are so powerful... and those organic warship can actually fly autonomously... without a pilot... its really impossible to defeat them unless your ships are also organics and can breed like locust... you dont stand a chance...
in comes the VORLONs.... and their organic ships which looks a bit like sotong...
the next one is a planet killer of the vorlons... it literary vaporise the entire planet with one blast....

the above are all capital ships... as for fighters... the whitestar also not bad...
high speed.... massive firepower and also partial organic.. can heal itself but cannot reproduce. (like sterile mule)... the vorlons didnt want the humans to become too powerful..

gundam would not work much in modern battlefield..
just use 1 nuke bomb- (lets say tipped with enough firepower to destroy a few buildings)
and aim it on the feet of the stupid gundam..ur gundam legs blows up the body collapses to the floor..
Gundam = Paralysed
you might wanna argue that.. gundam can fly and use force field etc etc...
Even if the year 2200 is reached..Gundam would still be such a dream..such a big robot will only attract artileries and MLRS
and AAMs and AA-G and not to forget airborne launched cruise missiles
Gundam is modelled after a human being.
a human being SHAPE has many weakness thats why we uses vehicles

Anyway i can come up with a structure of mechwarrior or something which u seen in robocop...but in the end...
enemies will only exploit gundam's weaknesses.
Ever watched Star Wars? there's 1 giant walker , 4 leg and all it takes is for a mini spacecraft to use a powerful rope to encircle the whole walker's leg and the whole thing is brought down. -

at a very tiny fraction of the cost in maintaining a 20th century carrier.
gundams on the other hands are for boys.... my shadow battleships will shoot them down and eat them up for fuel and reproduction. -
