Probably you can drop by any national library which brings in janes defence weekly. As far as i know there are hardly any official report on the procurement.Virtually, none of the equipment acquisition which are suppose to be onboard is being officially spelled out by mindef.Originally posted by tripwire:now... i would like to ask for some help...
can anyone directs me to a website that has OFFICIAL report of the RSN FFG using the A43 sylver...
by OFFICIAL i imply either official sales report from MBDA, DCN or RSN or MINDEF.
alternative sites which is also accepted as official would include the JDW and some of the more respectable publishers like SIPRI.
thanks.....

1) There will be only 16 Aster15 when it arrived in Sg. Another 16 will be Aster30 when it will upgrade together with the harpoon around 2009.
I believe the frigates are armed with Sylver A43 VLS and they are able to launch Aster 30.
2) The anti ship 8 missile will be Harpoon from the old missile gunboat. Many people expect Harpoon Block 2 but Sg had not buy any Harpoon Block 2. Singapore had buy ex-40 block 3 from french. Date delivery expect to be around 2009. It carry 24 ex-40 in anit-ship and anti-land role for formidable.
I thought each MGB only have 4 Harpoon SSMs. That may be insufficient to arm all frigates with 8 harpoons each.
3) At the same time around 2009, an unnman vertical take off heli will also be intorduce.
Firescout?
This are the source that I gather from outside Singapore.

In my conclusion, the first few ships that Sg will recived soon will not be in her full weapon capacity. It will fully arm only Sg recived all 6 in 2009. There is 3 resons I could think of.Originally posted by cutebug:2 thing I discover about the formidable class weapons.

My two cents worth.[/b]
Please read my previous post. It had answer most of your doupt.Originally posted by tripwire:can you provide me with an official link that the RSN really did equip its FFG with A43 sylver?
because i am getting very conflicting reports regarding this matter...
and furthermore... i find something rather odd...
i find the RSN's refusal to declare that its armed with aster15 upfront rather perculiar...
i mean... what is there to hide if we are simply armed with the aster15? with its range, it aint really that big a thingy,
why then did the navy refuse to annouce the actual variants of the aster the FFG would be armed? how many variants are available to begin with?
my suspicion is that... they are probably armed with aster30, but the range of that missile is gonna caused our neighbours to choke on their breakfast... yet at the same time.. we dont want to appear decietful... so end up with this kind of half half anoucement.
and with reference to my previous link from a website hosted by mbox.... its stated that the FFG would be equipped with only 2 sylver instead of the complete 4 sylver for the first few vessel...
why i wonder... the RSN dont simply armed with all 4 sylver? waiting for production delivery of A50 sylver or waiting for A70 sylver to come on line in 2009?
or simply no money? kinda odd.... i think this FFG got lots of secrets and the RSN is throwing out alot of wild leads to throw us off their track....
as much as i want to believe you... could you provide your source of information pertaining to your expectation of the FFG?Originally posted by cutebug:Please read my previous post. It had answer most of your doupt.
Curiously the Singaporeans are getting the mid length Slyver launch tubes in the original 22inch format. This mean they can load ASTER 30....but cannot load TACTOM like the RN will ahve on the Darings. The French are engineering SCALP Navale to the 22inch tube but theya re working on a 25-inch tube that is dimensionally indenctical to the Mk41 and can take things like ESSM quad-packs.On the info of the aster 15 @ the naval technology webby
Pure DisInt on the ASTER 15. I was down in SG when they unveiled the Delta and had a very long chat with some of the Slyver design team. They're soft-pedalling the capabilities of the Delta boats.
having purchased the upgrade kit for the harpoon does not imply that RSN has given up on the MM40 block 3... since we still have many ships like the MCV, fokker 50 MPA that still uses harpoon.Originally posted by damienthedevil:I'm wondering where did cutebug got his information from . In Naval Technology Magazine, (I believe issue 10 or 11) , it was stated that Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Egypt and Australia ( Not including Europe ) has purchased the upgraded kit for the Harpoon System to Block 2. The SG Navy did contemplated in buying the MM40 Block 3 during the early evaluation years. but with the advent of Boeing Harpoon upgraded kit, it is the logical choice in acquiring the upgrade kit due to SG large inventory of AGM84.
For the DELTA ASTER, it was indicated in SIPRI Yearbook that we are only getting the ASTER 15 with VLS 43. However ASTER 30 (JDW) is being considered for our I-Hawk 2 replacement in the far future.
i have read many of this guys post... in acig... kinda like a guy in the loop of things in MAF... many of his comments are critical of MAF... but then most of the malaysian forumners seems to accept his "first hand" information.Originally posted by eurofighter:Quote from 'Simon Tan' from ACIG
