Hope so, im begining to have this sorta paranoia after reading up on their arms purchases , maybe just 1 party should stop arming up like China and taiwan. The day we load ammo , saddle up the choppers , arm the fighter jetsOriginally posted by LazerLordz:I sincerely hope that the weapons systems of our two nations will never be fired in anger against each other.Even if that day comes when we have to load the ammo, saddle up the choppers, arm the fighters, it should be for the common defence of both our countries. We may be separate politically forevermore, but our destinies are still very much entwined with each other. It might be prudent to treat every single nation as a potential adversary but where do you begin to draw the line and not fall into the trap of paranoia and think we are threatened everyday.Vigilance need not come at the price of paranoia.
I gotta admit that there's some truth to that, even though I'm a positivist.Originally posted by Rachmaninoff:well, that's precisely what i've been trying to put across - that the perceptions of threat arising from our identification of the boundaries of the "self" in relation to the "other" are constructed via the intersubjective social relations.
To put it simply, once we stop thinking of the Malaysians as our enemy, and they do likewise - a reconstitution of the culture characterising our relations would occur. A case in point would be Egypt and Israel who have transformed their relations from that of a Hobbesian culture of perpetual war to a Lockeian culture of mutual respect following the Camp David accords
Not Really =DOriginally posted by esesce:If you think Red Alert is ANYTHING similar to real life, you can think again kiddo!![]()
lol yea...but there are some pretty impressive RTS out there.....Originally posted by Obersturmfuhrer:Oh my, and I was beginning to think armchair generals are bad....

hahahaha new term go alert webstersOriginally posted by Obersturmfuhrer:To complete my earlier post, I just discovered asomething worse: desktop generals![]()
hey.. u also played the Close Combat series..? do you still happen to have them..? borrowed from a fren last time... 1 of the realistic games around..Originally posted by |-|05|:And my friend you would be very wrong if you think red alert wld even be close to matching real life combat.
If you want a game with realism to play the close combat games.
In almost all RTS games out there the units almost never every miss and never run out of supply.Troops will fight to the end.....and each soldier carries 1 freaking weapon.....also camo doesnt work.Go figure

Cool , but just measure, how different is computer simulation in SAF from real life?
You can call them Computer "Generals" too,
oh yah don't forget to write into ST FORUM that our money has been wasted!
America US Army has created
www.americasarmy.com
a RTS to play and to recruit potential troops.
I don't believe that a secret helicopter insertion by commaches stealth helicopters carrying 4 platoons of commandos and chinooks with reduced heat signature and noise carrying strike vehicles cannot do covert ops!
And i don't believe that a thriple prong attack , if launched at the correct places at correct target, cannot bring a enemy down to it's knees!
Simulation is a utopia whereby war in the future will be done.
Potential Enemies will carry out a war inside the simulation
and only when the simulation is successful , then it will BE
powerful

you old birds are seriously LAGGING!
Simulations are the way of 21st century, know what will happen before war starts..you become king liao..
Judging by overwhelming military power + intense modernisation in a few years time and most people think china is weak..
but china got over few hundred jets which can pose threat to F16 ..
they got license to BUILD SU-30 somemore and SU-27..
and somemore money..which russia doesn't have..
1.3 billion people war machine

or maybe a M-16.
yea i've played it....and i loved them.....unfortunatly i've on ly got the 2nd and 5th games in the series.I would like to get hold of the 3rd and 4th games....especially the 3rd.Originally posted by pufferfish_79:hey.. u also played the Close Combat series..? do you still happen to have them..? borrowed from a fren last time... 1 of the realistic games around..
Btw the way i do agree with ur pt that most RTS game ( red alert and C n C ) do not include the basic constrain of supply, morale, accuracy and weather condition, simply state, it is jus the way it is meant to be : A Game :... the only thing it create is entertainment value... and alot of armchair experts....
sad sad....![]()
He wouldn't like it lah. Ppl like him enjoy fantasy games where the person goes around firing his machine gun at full auto, never running out of bullets, hitting even a sniper 1000 km away & even being able to destroy a tank with mere bullets.Originally posted by |-|05|:yea i've played it....and i loved them.....unfortunatly i've on ly got the 2nd and 5th games in the series.I would like to get hold of the 3rd and 4th games....especially the 3rd.
Look SibeiSuayKia why dont i just lend you my close combat and u got play 1 mission....just 1 mission...and see how long u take and how many freaking man you lose.
While it's still a game it sure beats red alert which was made purely for entertainment!!!Simulations and games like America's army were made with training in mind.
but it wld sure as hell shut him up....Originally posted by esesce:He wouldn't like it lah.
