  I'm not sure if this is allowed. I'm doing a research paper. My topic is on National Service. I would also like to find out views of NS man in the first few batches as there are major changes over the year and the first few years will perhaps be the toughest since technology has improved and the living conditions too. I would appreciate if you all could help me complete the below. Thank you.
  
  1. How did you feel when National Service was first implemented?
  
  2. Did you support the implementation of National Service? Why?
  
  3. How did other National Service men, like you felt?
  
  4. How did your family and relatives (others) felt?
  
  5. Did you do anything to show your dissatisfaction/support? If yes/no, why?
  
  6. What did other people did to show their support or dissatisfaction?
  
  7. How did the government react to the situation?
  
  8. If you or others who did not support the implementation of National Service at first, were you all persuaded by the government? If yes/no, why?
  
  9. Do you have a sense of belonging to Singapore at first? Why? Do you feel the same way after your life in National Service? Why?
  
  10. How do you think the younger generation feels about National Service now?
  
  11. Do you think the governmentÂ’s decision to reduce the number of years of service to 2 years good? Why?
  
  12. Do you think National Service is beneficial to the country? In what way is it yes/not? Why?

  A lot of the very first batches won't be heavy internet users or forum contributors. If you lower the bracket to 40+'s (served mid-late 70's, early 80s) you might get some responses. Bear in mind the very first batch in 1968 was a very select small batch. Only in the early- to mid- 70's did SAF really get rolling with large numbers of conscripts, once the core local instructor base was in place. LHL himself enlisted in 1971, and disrupted shortly thereafter on SAF and President scholarships to Cambridge, returning to active service only in 1974.
  
  Alternatively ask your uncles/family friends who served that time to send out the survey form to their fellow unit members.

  also agree on the point that you won't get much meaningful response here - the profile of most forumnites do not suit your needs!
  
  btw, what course are you taking that requires you to do a research paper on NS?

  We students all have to do a research paper to do with humanities. I am interested in NS and thus I did on this topic. But mine is a integration of past and present NS, people veiws on it.
