Muslims fight for Israeli Defence Forces
Contary to popular belief that the Middle East is a conflict between Jews and Muslims, the fact is that there are Muslims who volunteer to fight for the state of Israel. Many have given their lives.
Next time you see reports of Israeli army casualties, take a look at their names- it may be Muslim.

rest assured Mod, there's nothing sensitive about this topic...
there was an extremely heart wrenching story featured in the NY Times some months ago about an israeli youth with a Jewish mother and a Palestinian father...
the parents divorced on paper so that the mother could bring the child to Israel where there was a better future. the youth grew up and served in the IDF, while the dad came in as an illegal immigrant, washing dishes at a restaurant just so that he could be near his son.
one day, he was caught and due to be deported. he managed to inform his son and the son raced off in an IDF jeep to the border check-point and managed to meet his dad before they escorted him over the borders.
the soldiers escorting the poor man took one look at his son's Sergeant rank and decided to look the other way while the son drove his dad home.
last heard, "special provisions" were being sought for the dad to stay... but one should realise that this is no isolated incident.
the divide is not between jews and muslims... there are great complexities on the ground and the grey areas are very broad indeed...
when we talk about Jews or Muslims, we should remember that we are talking about PEOPLE, not categories. -
Its not surprising. Israel has a large Arab population. These muslims are fighting for their country it doesnt matter what religion they belong to.
I am sure our muslim citizens will fight side by side with us if the need arises.
The battle between Israel and the Palestinians is a political one.
Judaism and Islam have co-exist peacefully in the past. -

I condemn the terrorist acts by the extremist but the Palestinians do have their grievences which were not addressed. -
idwar is just trying to put the point across that muslims will and can fight for the Singapore Armed Forces. and he will also put the point across on WHY THERE ISN'T ANY high ranking muslim officers in it.

Well, Christians, Muslims and Jews share the same one God. They just practice their faith in many different ways that's all.

One should remember that in SAF context, anyone ranked Major & above is considered a senior i.e. high ranking officer. And if anyone tells me there is no Malay in SAF ranked Major & above, I will slap the sh*t out of his mouth!
KNN, nothing more irritating than ppl who try to incite religious conflict by making baseless accusations like no Malay officers, no Malay commandos, no Malay pilots, etc. These ppl know sh*t & only know how to cause trouble. Douche bags!!

If you see alot of Chineses high ranking officers, it is due to the ratio of our population. But there are definitely Malay in there, there are good Malay leaders u know. -
Anyway the topic starter is talking about the contributions of muslims in the Israeli Defence Forces. I think there is no need to draw any other inferences. Please keep your comments within the context of the original topic.

For those who claim to be people of the Book,on Judgement Day, all will be judged, so let not petty politics restrain our hands when someone is in need of help.At least the Muslim Israeli soldier died more nobly than the abovementioned discriminating Muslim religous leader ever lived.
