Singaporean Amphibous capability

I am curious to find out more about the amphibous capability of SAF as a whole and not just the individual service arms. Pictures will be very much appreciated. I am particulary intrested in the prospect of Singapore having amphibous MBTs. I know about the weight problem for MBTs especially in this part of the world, so does getting amphibous MBTs help to reduce this problem?(assuming that the brigde-laying equipment eg the SCE M60 is also just as heavy.)

I think to have an effective amphibious armour force, there should be adequate naval transport vehicles rather than "swimming" tanks. The swimming speed of armour vehicles are too slow and retards their ability for rapid advancement as the vangard of an offensive.
Heliborne troops and amphibious infantry would have landed long before the tanks even make it halfway through the straits, effectively relegating our armour forces into support roles. -

why most of the time ppl tend to FORGET our FCU and FCEP?
do u know that our FCU can carry tank? and its speed can reach up to
30 over knot.... so... for quick deployment... we have always
depend on FCU and FCEP....
as for how many FCU and FCEP we have
.... i think the FIGURE will scare

Sg Amx10 P and Amx10(105mm) can swim well. Total 44 in number.

suggest we get assault hovercraft which can go land and water..
damn power..huge in size..powered by propeller and can put a gun in the front
and some mistral missiles

But a hovercraft can be useful to transport follow-on forces. -

the problems with rpg is that..THE HOVER CRAFT CANNOT SINK
coz its always floating
and the person inside hovercraft also won't die ^^
can carry 12 vehicles somemore..
compared to our c-130 carrying so little bionix
there's a load of air above it..
and certainly..it goes faster den courageous.
anyway we can always shield the front of the propellers with reactive armour..
to protect from heat stuffs..
or power it with turbo fan at the back..as in behind in..like a jet .. -

There is other easier and faster ways of getting tanks across waters, that is where the combat engineers are for, they use rafts and bridging to bring the MBT across. -

All craft over water can sink; just because it 'floats' on a bed of air, does not make it invunerable to damage to its skirts etc.

Amphibious MBT are not designed to assault beacheads, just to ford rivers with less than 5m depth. In all usual situations, you need wide enuff approaches and strong ingress and egress with no underwater obstacles. Seldom seen in SE Asia because of the soft terrain (i.e. tidal swamps etc)
Singapore practices coastal hooks, not OTH assaults. Even with our LST SS Endurance, without a proper or dedicated support/bombardment vessels cannot 'hit the beaches' USMC style.
Book in Nat Library "Ambhibious Warfare" is good guide on such matters. -

With air-to-air refueling capabilities and overseas bases, that info is of little use.

To understand the mobile bridges - their way of use, deployment and capabilities go read up on the Isreal - Yom Kuppur war - see how the Egyptains use use their bridging equipment so successfull that they are able to bring their whole 3rd army over the Suez Canal .
Also read up on how the Isreal counter attack, lead by Sharon ( now prime minister ) by using their own combat engineers to using mobile bridges to bring across their own tanks and APCs to egypt across the Suez Canal, which they start attacking airbases, air defenses and open a corridor for the isreal airforce which turn the tide of the war. -

When we serve our nation, we have the privilege of recieving classified information regarding the capabilities of our armed forces. Good soldiers dun go around bragging about what they know.
If you want to find out more, you will know when you serve.
Despite the time that some of you young turks have spent readings about the Janes and pioneer and the games you played at NCC, you know nuts about deployment and operations.
