Is SAF having budget cut?
Projects that have delay or on diet:
S211 replacement
C130 upgrade
NGF downsize from 40-20
National service reduce 6-8 months
Seem to me that SAF was having a budget cut, anyone can tell me more staffs that have been delay? A major reason is that Sg economic is not doing that well compare to 1992-1997, but I admit it still doing fine now.
I have a doubt, whether friendly Abdullah will cause SAF to budget cut. I guess it will. -
Defence budget was actually increased this year. Does that sound like a budget cut? I'd say more likely SAF is saving up for other purposes. Perhaps buying more hardware.

C130 upgrading has not been announced yet actually. They are getting the C-130J only
NGF will replace the A-4 and F-5 as planned as they cannot be used for long especially the former which we still have 20 in service and thry can't wait for the F-35 which comes 8 yrs later. 20 F-5 also needs to be replaced as they came in 1979. Another 28 F-5 may be replaced altogether (Remember RSAF has said that they are only going to use 2 type of jet). In fact, the deal has been said that it will go up to 60 as they have been committed to replace bth A-4 and F-5 altogether -

Thats SF-260 that has been donated to Indonesia. S.211s are still in down under as basic trainers. C/T-4Es are being used as air grading. Piper warriors are used in SYFC nothing to do with RSAF training. -

People has been talking it if you dun know.... You are just not informed. SYFC has links with RSAF.. SYFC is to get pilots to join RSAF primary. SYFC is classified as para-military forces. That's the light aircraft element people is talking abt at Seletar Airport -

SIAI yes was brought over, but this Aramachi has few international customers, only Brazil, Malaysia and Italy. From my understanding C130 will not be replace by C130J but will be upgraded. It suppoe to upgrade in 2003 but was further delay till 2008 due to cut cost. It is uncomfortable for Singaporean to know that SAF are cutting cost but it is realistic and u will have to face it.
To replace F5 and A4 for 1 to 1 with NGF is not financial logincal for SAF at the for the next 5-8 years. -

The NGF budget has US$1 billion set aside.
This is due to financial crisis but isn't Malaysia best - Almost completely stopped -

FTS/130 Sqn is still in RAAF Pearce training RSAF pilots in basic jet training. The old SF.260s are the ones used by RSAF for Air Grading previously, they are the ones that were donated to Indonesia

Maybe RSAF should wait for the German MAKO. Should be ready for export around 2010.

I dunno about RSAF but for .... Army like got cut budget leh.. the last time i went in for a course....i was issued 23 rounds of blanks for a 3 days 2 nite exercise....1st mission havent end we all using universal rounds already...

There was even news that RSAF was interested in the AT-63 Pampa. But if i am not wrong, the production line has been shut due to some conflicts between LM and the Argentinean goverment.
