5-day week in army camps

Seriously what's the difference in a 5-day week ?
If you are in a lobo vocation, it's more or less already a 5 day week.
If you are in combat vocation, and on exercise/ops, you will not get the 5-day week as operational needs/requirements supercedes everything.
If you are in combat vocation, and not on exercise, chances are you already have a 5-day week or less.
If you're talking about claiming off in lieu for those burnt days, SAF commanders have invented so many ways to cheat you of them (Infamous cheat : You guys went for 2 nights off this week, that's equivalent to 1 day off.
). Kpkb too much, and you'll probably sign extra for silly things which in turn will negate whatever off-in-lieu you have.
Now a 4.5 day week would be something to crow about, but that will never happen. -
True, except - who knows - a 5-day week could mean longer hours during the workweek to offset the loss of Saturday hours. Anyone for a 6pm or 6:15pm last parade? (Makes some sense too, if only to force base personnel to consume the indented dinners & also to conduct SOCs/IPPTs at a cooler 5pm or thereabouts.)
Mathematically a 5-day week also means a further "shortened" NSF service too, under the 3G Army format. Assuming each Saturday equals a half-day & there's at least 52 Saturdays in a calendar year, that means a new conscript will technically only serve ... whatisit ... 1 year, 10 months & 3 weeks soon! ~lol~ -
Am I missing out something here? I read the reports that stated a 5-day work week for Civil servants. I presume the civil servants stated are those in the civil service ie government offices. Somehow I fail to see how SAF personnel qualifies for that category since the armed forces are not classified as civil servants in most (if not all) countries.

I am a non combatant currently and I have heard my departant head said that 5 day week will start w.e.f next week.

mm... it wont be tat packed by much...
usually on sat morns before book out... always have some lesson tat can always be removed e.g. weights/circuit or ippt specs... or juz stand by area .. tis and tat to waste time.. hee

I heard other companies in my camp are going to implement the 5-day week for the new birds who just enlisted... sadly, I will still be burning my saturdays as I am going to leave my unit soon and there apparently isn't enough time to change to training plan.

doubt we will really get the long weekend.
saying tat our working hr will increase to balance the working hr every week. pls, i been reporting for duties from 7:30am to 5:30pm/6:00pm everyday. I already do more than the require hrs liao.
I see lots of talks, but no action seem to be applied yet.
Give me the allowance raise, tat's better! -

My guess is that the immediate effect will be the likely redesigning of the daily timetable (training programme). What's the existing format - 8 time periods a day? Without normal Saturday training, they may increase the total to 9, maybe 10, but shorten each time period to, say, 40 minutes.
That'll open up more flexibility but doesn't overextend on the first- & last-parade hours too unrealistically. -

ok, confirmation from commander's conference in the afternoon.
5 day week does not apply to training schools, NSFs or NSmen.. that's the RSAF side anyway
