Assisting enemy
s.12. Every person subject to military law who, knowingly and without lawful excuse —
(a) communicates with or gives intelligence to the enemy;
...
(g) without authority transmits or discloses any information to the enemy regarding the Singapore Armed Forces or any forces co-operating therewith; or
(h) does any act calculated to imperil the success of any military action or operation of the Singapore Armed Forces or of any forces co-operating therewith or wilfully delays or discourages upon any pretext any such action or operation,
shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction by a subordinate military court to suffer death or any less punishment authorised by this Act.

I wish i could reply to this thread using my real thoughts and feelings but again ISD will like be angry..
so im going to contain my emotion and not let off our rant,
we WORK 2 years for our nations COMPULSORY(i don't mind) and we are subjected to so many MILITARY rules and regulations , all in the name of the country and we don't have any referendum like Switzerland or whatsoever paid lesser then Korean or Israeli regulars , and we gain a uneccessary liability of being jailed for 3 years , sure the mouth are ours and we can say whatever we want, but when it comes to free speech everyone has a right
but on the other hand , i understand what does the govt feel when it comes to ,yer know SG military secrets , SINCE It makes us take a vow on the 1st day we enlist , to pledge loyalty to Republic of Singapore , The trust should be there! Why create so many rules and so rigidity?? As a person with moral principle , i believe it boils down to the human being itself , The Trust that I have in the government is always there . So i think that this should be reflected Vice-Versa

all for the sake of preparing myself for army.
And now im losing my place in a foreign scholarship to someone who has A1 in GP , Science and Maths.
Hahaha , in war i wouldn't wanna fight beside someone with A1 in GP , science and maths , simply becuz ...the person will run away ..Why?
Cause no matter how good you are at studies , there will still be shortfalls..
Just like when i heard of a story that LHL missed all his targets during a live-firing , who cares?? When it comes to military , find a military person , i rather the A1 guy get a job in DSTA or political science..

No doubt, we can debate here about anything we like about the military but even a Marine would not come here and tell you how the their Marine Expeditionary Unit conducts its MOUT operational plans and force structure application in detail right?No one is forbidding you to talk about our hardware from your own perspective and rules are sometimes outdated.Be more calm and rational and we will not engage in a kerosene war where the only winners are curious onlookers. -

There are two main characters when it comes to BEING a general
You don't assume a general fights all the time
neither do you assume a general plans and think like a calm thinker all the time
in planning , you are a calm thinker who thinks about terrain and forces and deployment and reinforcements.
in times of war , you lead the troops to victory in a sense , while being in a control room , where-else in ancient china , you get to partcipate inside a war.

our gurkhas are like our knights , moving lesser but still strategically deployed.

Think we should start planning for military from young , lots of our young pple go into BMT like sotong , if got SAF high school den can have military college like in US , den continue, then their CCA will be NCC or youth flying club..
but more hours lesser subjects etc..
Sports to me are secondary , national defense comes first.

No subject taught in schools are relevant to military training, only military trainings are related to military training. If you say the skills learned in History are related to military trainings then i shall say there are skills learned in sciences that are helpful not only in military trainings but in life.
If other developed countries do not see a need to set up a military junior college just inorder to produce good thinking soldiers, i do not see why Singapore should take up the step. I see that JC students in Singapore are better off being taught with general studies, before choosing what they want to do in life. After JC, whether are they welcomed to military college or not, thats another story.
I do not see the relevence of a soldier cursing like a farm boy as a good soldier. I do not see why a scholistic soldier who do not curse is a lousier soldier. One day when you reach the level of a scholistic soldier, u are welcome to change the system.
Until that day come, stop whining. -

lol..just to say a few words abt NCC..they don't teach you much real soldiering..and all the camps and stuff conducted by NCC (not SAF), mostly waste of time doing boliao stuff. and the NCC Clt corps, are full of jokers who think that since they got rank, they're damn good already..even some who smoke when they're not allowed to..disgrace man. -

ISD is for arresting ex-communists, Chee Soon Juan etc. Its function is focused on political dissdents. MSD is more on OpSec issues, You should always know who watches over you.

a knight can't move far unlike our rsaf =)
i suspect china also has something like the virginia school u mentioned,
they have those military flight training institudes , whereby they
conduct flight tests on the planes which they built with licenses from Russia,
all those J-version aircrafts which originally came from Migkoyan and Sukhoi

military school training helps in alot of ways, for example it helps to build a military style culture like US and Switzerland, which we are trying to emulate after. Not only does it improve Guy's interest..cause we men are known to like all rough stuffs,cars,motorbikes,tanks,ships.
It also saves resources DONE by Mindef , imagine the TONS of advertisment done on the newspapers and Magazines, Mights well create a Winston Military College (named after our Dear Winston Choo)
Not only that , if given proper thought and care, if the person in the Military college , spent time..he can be given attachment etc..in the 6 years..
to do stints at our NS, remember the 6 years which is combined from 4 years
in secondary and 2 years in college?
Furthermore if we can get them to do some stints , not only will it save costs,
will also cut down our manpower required for some tasks. Our troops not only will have the 6 years of military knowledge, they will know what to do in BMT,
with a military culture and 6 years of in-depth knowledge about our local military , by the time , 3 months over , i think they can be adaptable to anything.
Jungle warfare,Urban warfare , deployment , we already got all-guys schools,
we just need to filter the "gu niang" from the "man"
throughout the 6 years , so it becomes even easier
Anyway to all lao jiang in this forum , just a question , what happens to all those Gays in NS? Are they given a special platoon or counselling?

With regards to military school , we can always like organise more camping trips insteaf of OBS and Scouts , like for example , we can teach them the theory of camoflage , then organise training trips to identify animals or insect which the troops can consume in a wartime .

Like after i read some combat books by British SAS , they are trained in all sorts of terrain and our NCC, sadly didn't teach us what kind of food we can eat in a jungle and what kind of things to do if we get lost, luckily i already learned it from books i borrowed from the library, but luckily NCC , taught us how not to leave our trace in a jungle , like how to use silhoutte and the foliage to our advantage and applying camo cream
eh don't look down on me wor, i know how to split the M-16 body for cleaning and put it back all the 7 pieces , the firing mechanism etc etc..the fastest time in my whole unit =p
i also managed to get to get the best "leaves and some plant stuffs" which i won't specify here , to cover my whole uniform including jungle hat, ^^
On camoflaging
still remember last time my friend went to put a jungle fruit on his jungle hat, i almost fell down laughing , sibei funny , then the in-charge is pretending to be enemy so he pretend to use a gun to poke around as in "looking for enemy"
the 1st one to be spotted was him siah..another guy was like a walking Brazilian Amazon Jungleman..walk around ar..1 whole thick clump like a bush..wonder how he advance forward in the jungle LOL, then he walked down a slope,and rolled down ROFL! next week NCC report sick lol

remember when I was before NS, just as gung ho but much better read. Instead of spouting nonsense about SAS combat unarmed tactics (guess as much) etc.
I was actually reading up and training on basic survival skills (SAS survival handbook),
- tracking (not your hunt the elephant by its poo nonsense, simple tracking like how to read number of people using a track, where to look out for displaced soils and other spoil),
- How to get water (most basic need and survival skill),
- do backwoodsman cooking (you'd be suprized how difficult this can be),
- familarize yourself with different weapons (basic real world ones, not your exotic, non-existent nonsense),
- orienteering (using a real map and compass and not blab about GPS etc. In Singapore GPS is a joke).
If you want to enhance your interest in things miltary, do the right thing by checking out some of the more learned posts here, read more and do things not by daydream.
If you want can make a list for you to really prepare for BMT (I was BMT instructor) or just for general military interests. -
Before I join I dun want to think about it. Anyway there's BMT for ppl to get use to army life. Just do wat you are suppose to do. 2 years is more than enough for me.

and route marches too. i almost died during my first 4 km route march. but after a few more marches with progressively increasing distance, your combat fitness builds up and you will find it like a breeze - again. and soon u may even be njoying it.
they dont expect u to be superman when u first go in. with the right attitude and thinking, bmt and ns in general can really be a good learning and living experience. -
