Excuse me... my understanding goes back to the first batch of NCC boys doing Basic Airborne back in my era when I was in NCC. And NCC airborne badge looks different from the riggers badge.Originally posted by lion02:to my understanding, in the pass, NCC only did 1 clean fatigue jump, (not 3 to 5 jumps) and they got NCC Airborne badge, which looks similar to the rigger's.
nowadays, they do 3 clean fatigue jump, 2 days 1 night, the same as other Army guys, and they r awarded with the Amry Airborne badge.
Army opened course don't do equipment jumps, they just do 3 clean fatigue jumps to get the badge.
Commandos inital starts with 9 jumps (3 clean fatigue jump, 6 equipment jumps). it was later redued to 7 jumps and than 5 jumps (3 clean fatigue jump, 2 equipment jumps).
and, u want to wear it during ur army phase?Originally posted by f50_vapor:http://www.ncc.org.sg/training/bac/2004/criteria.htm

wats there to laugh about? as you said ncc is ncc, army is army. one shouldnt compare apples with oranges. furthermore, they are secondary school students, teenagers, and below 18 for that matter, while ns guys are much older. but well, the difference in age hasnt made some ns guys any better - they can still be just as immature as secondary school kids. also, ncc students can in fact have more pride than some nsfs.Originally posted by martin_lim85:NCC is NCC, ARMY is ARMY. when i go army i will go back my secondary school and laught at the NCC![]()
oh.... first batch of NCC boys doing BAC, which year was that?Originally posted by erijazz:Excuse me... my understanding goes back to the first batch of NCC boys doing Basic Airborne back in my era when I was in NCC. And NCC airborne badge looks different from the riggers badge.![]()
The best way to survive (regardless of whether you want to be an outstanding NSF or a chaokeng NSF), is to maintain a moderate stance.Originally posted by octega:x2. Army being Army, you most likely court trouble. So next time, you wear these badges and you find that your work keep getting more and more and you become the centre of attraction....Congrats! You've been marked!![]()
Well said.Originally posted by esesce:The best way to survive (regardless of whether you want to be an outstanding NSF or a chaokeng NSF), is to maintain a moderate stance.
If you siam too much & are too bochap, you will get marked. If you are too siao on, you will also get marked. There was someone in my BMT batch who was a NCC Land Cadet Lieutenant & he actually had a NCC-SAF airborne badge. But he wisely chose not to wear it 'cos he didn't want to stick out like a sore thumb.
One way of getting along with your fellow recruits is being one of them. By showing how "sat" you are by wearing all your badges will only alienate you from them.
Its hardly surprising nowadays. From personal experience, very few ppl with a BAC or SCUBA badge made it to OCS.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Anyway,its true that being low profile but performing outstandingly will get you reconginised in BMT.However, imagine the surprise on the instructors faces when u turn up for OCS or SISPEC (or immediately after being posted to your unit from Graduation at OCS or SISPEC) with a Basic Airborne/Scuba badge or better still, both?
There is a time and place to be outstanding.
AFAIK, taekwondo black belt is the only badge they have. Don't think they have one for others unless its newly implemented.Originally posted by deathscythe99:Unarmed combat badge is better wad....dunchya think?
