no big deal - it isn't as if a war is going to be fought hand-to-hand anyway, if that's your point. they just make a bigger target is all.Originally posted by specfore:Couple of things I observed from the photos...
2) We are so small sized compared to the "ang-mos". Look at the picture of the Malaysians also. Kind of clownish, standing next to the Aussies or Brits.
so u want to do something or do nothing..Originally posted by SibeiSuayKia:Kinda stupid to assume..

really? Years ago I was in semangat bersatu(or something like that) with the royal malaysian guardsman their equipment was really non standard but their field craft and tactics I will grudgingly say are really good and so is their morale.Originally posted by Arena:wow... i just back from Bersama Lima...
dun look down on the msian...
the msian navy standard are quite good...
i can say on par or even better than us...
Equipment plays a part but it's the quality of the man that matters most... think they are quite good, especially tactics wise, they are damn good... on average i think sg needs to buck up... not tt i'm pro-msia or wat... to achieve and maintain to be the best armed forces, saf really needs to buck up in terms of the quality of manpower...Originally posted by arburthen?:really? But during the exercise I also noticed overzealous inter-unit rivalry to the point whereby their field training is based too much on realism.
During exercise the entire unit moves out .. along with the cookhouse, the barber even the canteen operator goes. Soldiers don't carry combat field rations, instead the canteen operator camps nearby with their coca cola and other titbits hence morale is always very high. Hot meals are also prepared by the cookhouse in the field and distributed fresh to frontline units by way of provision convoys daily.
Problem is when these convoys frequently get ambushed they are 'confiscated', Scout units from both sides frequently infiltrate each other harbouring sites to gather intelligence or steal rifles, if they are unlucky to get caught they get beaten.
